Title: Original Owners Signup Thread
Post by: mstreeter06 on May 08, 2013, 09:45:00 pm
Hello everyone!

This is where we'll decide on the original franchises.

Here is a rundown of the AFBL...
-OOTP14, recommend to own the game but not necessary
-16 original franchises (number not set in stone, open to more if the demand is there)
-Franchise will represent a US State and not a city
-No finances
-No waivers or minor league options
-No DH (would be open to adding to it if there is a majority)
-162 games, balanced schedule
-2 leagues of 8 teams (current plan for 16 teams)
-Playoff berths are 2 league champs who get 1st round byes and 2 wildcard teams per league based on winning percentage
-Modeled after NPBL (http://www.npblbaseball.com)

If you are interested in interesting in joining my new league and becoming an original franchise owner, reply to this and indicate what state you would like to base your franchise in. When you have decided on your team's mascot, minor league affiliates and mascots, logo, stadium info/dimensions/etc, and any other information needed, create a Team Press Release in that section of the forum.

Also, please voice your opinions about any improvements or suggestions for the league. I'll probably need help with logos and such plus would like to make a few owners board mods.

Thanks and I'm excited to get everything rolling!

Just wanted to poll the 16 owners about whether we should stick with starting with 16 or get to 20 or 24 before getting our first season going? I have about 4 or 5 guys who have interest in the league in addition to the 16 we currently have.

What do you guys think? I have 11 owners that have posted their franchise's information with the remaining 5 owners left who have promised their information in the next few days.

I say start with the 16... no telling how much early turnover there will be.

With not even 75% of the league ready to go, I'm worried about actually having 16 solid franchises to be honest.  16 is plenty at this point.

This is where I'm sitting at as well.

I like 16 as well. To be honest I think the best opportunity would be to replace those inactive owners with the people on the waiting list. Better of re-arranging league at this point then later

Agree with all of the above, get the ball rolling with 16, and if needed replace anyone who is inactive at this early stage.

16 should be good, but if something happens we get up to 24 GM's, then I'd say we could start at 20.
