Rules/Game Options Discussion
« on: May 10, 2013, 11:44:36 am »
Hey everybody! I'm going to create this thread so we can discuss what rules and game options we will start out with. I am pretty open to what the majority of the owners decide on. I do know that we will not be using finances, here is the list I have of items to discuss/decide on before we can start...

-number of teams? --> current plan is cap at 16
-2 leagues, divisions? --> current plan is two leagues of 8 teams
-playoff format? --> current plan is 6 teams advance (2 league champs who earn 1st round byes then 2 wildcards per league based on Win%)
-interleague play? --> no preference but currently planned as off
-DH? --> no preference but currently planned as off
-scouting off? --> prefer just using the game's OSA scouting instead of each team having a scouting department
-coaches off? --> current plan is to have turned off
-ratings scale, 1-10 or 1-20? --> no preference, have played with both
-international FAs? --> current plan is turned off
-waivers, minor league options, rule 5? --> current plan is to have all turned off
-how deep our minors will be? --> current plan is 4 levels (AAA, AA, A, RL)
-rookie league location? --> no preference on whether we have a specific state(s)
-amateur draft number of rounds? how many rounds worth of players generated? --> thinking on either 5 rounds with 7 rounds worth or 7 rounds with 10 rounds worth
-how we will run the initial fantasy draft to fill our roster? live, offline on the forum, mix? --> no current plan

If you can think of other things we need to decide on and also your opinions on the above items, please post here! Thanks!

I prefer ratings 1-10, but I'm flexible.

Any interest in going talent-only?

How does talent-only work? I don't think I've played with that option.

You see the talent ratings for players, but not their actual ratings. So basically your scouts report on potential and you have to watch the stats to figure out who's ready to be promoted etc.

I would also like 1-10, I like inter-league if not this year maybe down the road. I like either with DH or with out makes leagues interesting. I would like waivers on but I dont really mind and maybe rule 5 after a few years but off to start.

Hmm interesting. That would be much tougher.

How many games per season? Looking at 162 like MLB or less?

Everything else I'm happy with whatever way it goes, although would like to see interleague play so that all owners get to face off against each other throughout the season.

I think everyone should be able to play everyone in the league so I would vote for interleague play.

As far as a draft, it may be difficult to get everyone into a live draft room.

Everything else looks great to me.

I like 7 rounds of draft with 10 generated -- I've long felt like our drafts are just a hair too short in the NPBL.

I agree that we should only do some of the initial draft, but I'd like to make it a little longer than 10 rounds -- that's not even half a roster.

Yeah I'm going to go with 7 rounds with 10 rounds generated for the amateur drafts.

Initial draft I would like to try to to as much live as we can whether that's 10, 15, 25, or more. I'm fine with whatever everyone decides.
