2035 Discussion Thread
« on: May 16, 2017, 10:24:12 am »
We have finished the 2034 Offseason and we are now officially in the 2035 Preseason!

I have a new file up with everything (HTML Reports, StatsPlus, and StatsLab) updated.

We'll have our Spring Training Sim 1 (first half of ST) on THURSDAY 5/18 with exports due at 5:30am central.

Spring Training Sim 2 will be on FRIDAY 5/19.

Opening Day 2035 will be on MONDAY 5/22.

The AAA and AA roster maximums have been increased to 35 players from 30 players.

There are discussion posts on the Forum and Slack about several topics:
-the possibility of adding additional draft rounds (from 8 rounds to 10-15? rounds) but keep a maximum length of offseason guideline to avoid long offseasons.
-feeder league improvements to improve the balance of high school and college draft eligible players in the drafts (currently high school heavy)
-ways to improve player movement
-the possibility of turning on scouting so teams would have their own scout ratings to supplement OSA ratings (will be posted soon)
-the possibility of expansion to 24 teams from 20 teams (traditional expansion with expansion draft or create independent league where teams would operate separate from AFBL then whenever league is ready a team could get promoted into the league)
-the possibility of moving the draft time (from the end of the regular season and playoffs to during the following season starting in spring training and into the beginning of the regular season)

Spring Training Sim 1 is completed and everything is updated. We'll conclude Spring Training tomorrow and Opening Day is Monday!

Missed today's ST export: Illinois, Kentucky, New Mexico, Ontario, Oregon, Virginia (vacation)

I expect you to export at least 1 of the 2 ST sims and Opening Day exports are mandatory. Please make this happen. Thanks guys!

Anyone else expecting big years out of any rookies?

I've got a young SP who got a couple nice bumps over the offseason and will be in my rotation.  He won the Explorer League Most Valuable Pitcher Award last year and went 3-1 with a 2.19 ERA in 5 September starts with the Aviators.  - Jesus Ortega

There is only one other rookie projected to make the 25-man roster for me, but I doubt he will be in the Rookie of the Year conversation because he is more of a defensive speedster than a big hitter.  OF Francis Ridley, who hit .310-22-94 with 28 SB last season in AAA.

If you are missing a drafted international free agent, OOTP forgot to handle this again. So you'll want to open up the draft log or your team's transactions log, open up the IFA you drafted then move him to your RL.

If you have any trouble or questions with this, please let me know!

I've got 21-year old SS Leonardo Ocasio up with the big club to start the season. He was named MVP of Union League East last season in AA with a 5.1 WAR season there and 42 steals (but caught 30 times). Kind of a wild card for me, he's rated #37 prospect and could really add some speed to the lineup if he can get on base but he's still very young. but I'm trying him out as a leadoff guy and we'll see what happens early in the season.

Another is 20-year old 3B Eddie "The Gifted" Taylor who has become the player to officially displace Jose Ortiz at third base after Ortiz had played there for 15 years. 40-year old Ortiz will primarily DH this year.

And former #1 overall pick Joe "Hey Zeus" Berry will start in the Maryland bullpen. He's just 22.

Hopefully I'm not ruining all of these guys by bringing them up early but we have to try something and get some of these high draft picks to actually pan out.

Haha, my guy's nickname is Hey Zeus too, although it makes a little more sense for him since his name is Jesus.

Fanned 10 in 6.1 innings in his first start of the year.

Yeah, I don't know if Joe Berry is being racist or what with that nickname. ;)

Can't believe Matt didn't post this.

Jose Silva of the Colorado Bears threw a perfect game on May 7 vs Georgia Titans.
