2015 Winter Meetings: Topics To Discuss

  • The DH -> no, yes to both leagues, yes to 1 league if so which?
  • Interleague play -> 2016, just 2017, 2018 and beyond, just special seasons? (AFBL announced single season implementation for 2017)
  • Enable international/amateur free agents-> no or yes to some sort of free agent pool/draft? (unlikely but enough interest to bring back, how to implement?)
  • League schedule / number of games -> no change, add/subtract games, modify schedule of opponents (number of games, balance, etc)

I have left off Expansion from the list on purpose. Any expansion related discussion should be made in the Expansion section of the forum.

I appreciate and will listen to everyone's input. Please discuss on these issues in this thread or anything else you can think of to continue to improve our young league for the upcoming and future seasons! Thanks guys!

The DH -> no, thanks

Interleague play -> See how 2017 goes, I'm not totally against so long as it's run in an unbalanced fashion

Enable international/amateur free agents-> could be a way to help the expansion teams with more players available, but as we are a no finances league it would just about another 'draft' that benefits the poorer performing teams

League schedule / number of games -> no change

What I would like to motion is "star ratings based on all players, NOT positions" - hopefully someone else seconds this so we can vote on it.

If international/amateur free agents is turned on, approximately how many would we see each season?

Just a thought to the concern about about including international amateur free agents, you could always use a lottery format so that unlike a regular amateur draft its not just worst to first draft order. Could be a way to make more players available but not only favor the weaker teams.

Not sure. I just know its an option. I'd be open to whatever if we wanted to ever include international FAs.

If we do that we would have 1 star players all over the place we should switch to 20/80 value?

Not necessarily, we did this in another league I'm in and it worked out quite well. Yes there are still one star players, but I would be against 20/80 scale, it gives too much clarity as to who is/isn't the better player when looking at trades.

With scouts off we still need some of the mystique, which we do get with 1-10 ratings and stars only.

I'm all for the DH. But I'd rather it be all or nothing (both subleagues, not one or the other) so stats & records are consistent. But doesn't seem like there's a majority for that at the moment. :)

Don't really have a firm stance on interleague. Not entirely for or against it. Probably also of the let's see how 2017 works out mentality.

I'm against the international free agents right now. I think they tend to dominate when they come into a league so we might want to wait a bit post expansion.

Keep the schedule.

I vote no to DH.

I see no reason not to have inter league play.  We are all in this league, and we should all play each other.

Free agency, I really have no opinion here.

Schedule seems fine the way it is.

No - National league guy

Ok with interleague games

Not sure how international FA would work without finances or making so everyone has a shot at him and not just first to notice the FA.

Keep schedule

?The DH -> Im for one league to have it if not both for a time to test out the if we want to have both leagues or one or none im a yes
?Interleague play -> I would have loved it this year to get me the 5th pick :( and if people want it in 2016 then why not
?Enable international/amateur free agents-> not as of yet tho for expantion just before the draft you could filkl a few of the minor league teams with created players that we can't protect
?League schedule / number of games -> n This is the only thing i have trouble with is different games im 162 and will allways be for now so no change
