Scratch that on a new file/reports today. I'm going to wait until we finish the Expansion Draft which I hope we'll finish today after the Live Draft @ 8:30pm CT.

We're about to wrap up the 10th round and have the final 5 rounds left.

We're also almost done with the 4 round FA Draft!

Like Mike pointed out, we are ahead of my original schedule for the offseason which is great! We're getting closer to Opening Day 2017!

my 2C on the roster size issue.... whats the point?  we are creating a rule (im not a fan of rules) that will require manual management by the commish... and for what?  only one person is in violation of the potential rule... and that person is the only one loosing out because of it.  if I Want 50 guys in my Rookie league and none in A... then why shouldnt I (other than its bad for my team)? if people are worried about the hoarding of worthless minor leaguers... then stop the 2 additions per day.

I vote no on org limits
I vote no on minor league team limits

The roster size limit is actually aimed at ensuring as many players as possible in the league have a chance to become good and increase player movement so that GMs had decisions to make.

Personally I don't see the point in having more than 30-35 players in any level of your minors. I see the points on both sides of this discussion so here's what we will do...

-return to the 1 FA claim per calendar day
-put into effect the following roster size limits...
ML= 25
AAA= 30
AA= 30
A= 35
RL= 35

This will go in effect on Opening Day 2017. Please make the necessary roster changes and cuts by then.

I'm still working on the process of what happens if a team is over the limit. Right now, I'm thinking...
-a warning for the 1st sim
-second violation, I'll either 1.) promote/demote oldest (or least talented player) from the level in question or 2.) if the first isn't an option, then I would release the oldest (or least talented player) into the FA pool.

I for one think this is a terrible rule. I dont actively manage my minors ( I auto them so who knows where the game will put people), so your going to spend a lot of time checking my minors. unless you can hardcode a limit into the game... then its just a silly pointless rule rather than a bad one.

I have adjusted the roster size for each level of the minors in the game. 30 for AAA & AA and 35 for A & RL. This will be reflected in the newest file that will be released after the Expansion Draft late tonight or tomorrow morning.

I have voiced my opinions on this privately but this is such a terrible rule for someone like my self who made SO MANY trades under an old rule set and is now told hey you can't keep many of those players because you are over a count which was decided on without at least a season to figure out how to fix it.
Also with that hard coding what is that going to do to my team now? Is it just going to waive players automatically to get me down to size?

On the hard coding part, OOTP doesn't enforce roster limits int he minor, it just shows as cosmetic, however fi you have the AI organise your minors it will try to organise them as best as possible within the limits, but it won't release players. That has to be done by the commish or the GM.

Troy - just a quick point, having that many players is actually a disadvantage in their development (i.e. you're less likely to get that 1* turn into a 4-5*), as one of the keys to development in OOTP is giving your players playing time in the minors, so having 20 SPs on a minor league roster when you can only start a maximum of 6 is of no benefit to you or the players, whereas the league could benefit, and enhance player movement by these players (or others instead) being in the minors of teams where they can play.

I suppose we can postpone this rule implementation until 2018. I do like this rule though and don't see it going away entirely. Thoughts?

according to the count there are 199 players in your system - 20 for expansion is 179 you should have at least 30 players who are half star or just really bad never going to make it players that you can release and you didn't trade for (unless they lost all talent) for me the restrictions hurt because I like to have different amounts of players in each league, especially if I'm doing rehab assignment or trying to promote that good hitting rookie 26 players - 28 players in each league is standard for me plus or minus the injury's, like what happens if a team signs players then when injured players come back a good player gets released instead of a shitty one.

I'm working on manually inputting all the Expansion Draft selections today and then I'll get the FA Draft inputted. I'll release a new file/reports as soon as I can. Likely not until later this afternoon or evening. Thanks guys!
