The OOTP discussion/wacky stuff thread
« on: March 29, 2014, 08:59:43 am »
I thought it might be nice to have a dedicated OOTP thread to talk about the game or share weird happenings.

So, I also posted this on the OOTP forum, but this is the longest hitting streak I've seen in over 10 years of the game:

Then, right after his 62, he went for 25 more!

07/19/2038    Rod Copping    9 K, 0 BB and 9 IP versus Indianapolis while playing for Toronto
08/12/2038    William Booker    6 K, 1 BB and 9 IP versus Cleveland while playing for Toronto
08/26/2038    Chris Palmer    8 K, 3 BB and 9 IP versus Indianapolis while playing for Toronto

And this Jays team won 86 games the world series and only got in as a wild card My team the CWS were 7 time in a row champions and 13 of the last 14 years and had just won 124 games and i lost 3-1 in the first round so if you say that the baseball gods dont play this game you are wrong

Now this all happened 12 game years ago but i'm still mad

Does anyone use the in-game almanac? If so, how do you use it? The transactions for the previous season seem to wipe as soon as the playoffs end so whenever I almanac I've only been able to get from the end of the playoffs through the end of December for that calendar year. Are there other mods that are better for creating a true archive? Could you use something like statslab for a solo fictional league that you're intending to sim out decades worth of history?

StatsLab only uses what the game spits out of the database, so if the data isn't in the database anymore, StatsLab loses it.  An example of this is box scores.  Transactions aren't even exported with the sole exception being trades.  Most of that stuff is stuff that OOTP stores in text files.

All that said, it is certainly possible to stand up StatsLab for solo leagues, but you need to set up a web server with PHP/MySQL on it, which requires some technical skill.
