Thanks to all that have voiced their opinions. I'll let this discussion run until we finish the draft before concluding it.

I am new, but I will put in my 2 cents:

The DH -> no, I am old school on this one.
Interleague play -> I like the idea of playing every team as long as the schedule is even. I think we'd hear complaints if we play some teams and not others.
League expansion (earliest 2016 season) -> I agree with the poster who said we need a solid group of owners before expanding...
Enable international/amateur free agents -> I like free agency, but have not been around long enough to really have an opinion here.
League schedule / number of games -> Again not much of an opinion here. I like 154 or 162 games - if we go to inter league play we'll need to devise a good plan to stay close to a 162 game schedule...

Just an FYI but I've just created a posting in the OOTP forums about our planned future expansion so we can build excitement and quality prospective owners to prepare for when we ultimately decide to expand. I'm currently targeting the 2017 season but will leave the door open for a potential expansion for 2016 (not likely) or 2018 if more feasible.

I've also cleaned up some of the wording and the clarity with the AFBL Rules/Constitution so we're all on the same page along with any prospective owners for our future expansion plans.

The star rating isnt very accurate i think never really was in 6 or 6.5 and still isnt in 14 so if anyone else agrees i think we should move to 20/80? its good for having suprising players who are one star or 1.5 but it hurts value

Don't rely on stars, they mean very little (good guidance but that's about it) in this regard. I would be fully against any ratings change. 1-10 gives enough variance that you can't tell the difference between 2 guys rated a 6 and you have to look more at stats to make a decision.

The only recommendation I would make in regards to ratings is to hit the switch to have the ratings based off ALL players, not just players in that position. Currently in a position that is weak a 5* player is only 5* at that position and not 5* in the overall player pool.

Thanks Mike I agree with the first paragraph. I can make that star rating based on all players if there is a majority.

I too wish we used the 20/80 scale :( But would take anything that makes the stars more correct.

Yes and i love my half star players that do well, would never consider a raitings change 1-10 is perfect, to that would make a lot of players value go down and managers who dont know the game as well would see stars/20/80 and not the actucul raitings and that would also happen with the draft as well but with a small league it could be intresting.

Thanks for the heads up Stefin.

If you haven't done so already, update your OOTP14 game to the 14.4.23 update.

Here's how I'm taking everyone's opinions...

The DH -> 2-to-1 ratio for no so this fails this offseason
Interleague play -> 3-to-1 ratio for yes some sort of interleague
League expansion? -> yes but wait ... earliest expansion season target set to 2017, AFBL Commissioner's Office working on potential expansion owners
Enable international/amateur free agents -> not yet but possibly some sort of international FA draft to supplement amateur draft
League schedule / number of games -> no change, current schedule should generate a balanced 162 game schedule without interleague

AFBL will implement Interleague Play for a single season likely in the 2017 campaign to celebrate the 5th year of the league. The Commissioner's Office didn't rule out the single season implement for next season in 2016 but will likely choose to wait for the league's 5th year. AFBL league officials also didn't rule out that it only be a single season implementation but stressed that there is plenty of time to hammer out those details.

Future AFBL expansion will be placed on hold for the 2016 season but the league hopes to have a strong enough core of owners to expand in 2017 to 20 teams. If everything goes like the league hopes to then the 2017 season will be a fun and interesting season for the league.

To 2015 we go!
