Le?n Becomes First Aviator

The North Carolina Aviators have selected starting pitching prospect Norberto Le?n with their first pick in the AFBL dispersal draft.  Norberto is a bit undersized for a starting pitcher, but is extremely bright and should be able to overpower hitters with his excellent fastball nonetheless.  Norberto is also good with a chance to be great with the curveball and changeup, and mixes in a sub-par slider to catch batters off guard.  In addition to that, scouts expect him to have elite stuff when he peaks.  At 23, the young righty should be a fixture in the Aviators rotation for years to come.

The Aviators held the 2nd overall pick in the draft (the Oregon Explorers selected SP Ant?nio Lozano first overall), and now must begin the long wait for their 2nd pick, which comes 31st overall.

Hey guys, Chappy here...

My name is Rob and I chose the North Carolina franchise because that's were I live.

I've been playing OOTP since version 2.0 and been in online leagues since version 4...

I've been Commissioner of the NPBL (where I met Streeter) since oh, 2003 or 2004.  I've been in several other leagues over the years (JOBL, Jamaica League to name a couple), but have been strictly in the NPBL for a while now so I'm looking forward to this league.

The AFBL's North Carolina franchise has narrowed down its candidates for a mascot to two choices, each of which represent famous (or infamous) characters in the state's rich history.

The first of the two finalists pay homage to Orville and Wilbur Wright, the aviation pioneers who first flew their plane in December of 1903 in Kitty Hawk, NC... North Carolina Aviators

The second finalist is inspired by Edward Teach, AKA "Blackbeard", who often came ashore along the coast of North Carolina, and was eventually killed at Ocracoke, NC...  North Carolina Pirates
