Idaho Statemen - Boyd dealing with anger issues?
« on: December 10, 2014, 08:05:12 am »
Derek Boyd, 2018 first round pick has been erratic to say the least in the first month of the 2022 season. Sporting a 1-2 record with a 4.98 ERA, the righty has already been suspended twice in the 2022 season.

On April 6, in the fifth inning against New Mexico, Boyd hit Sancho Fierro igniting a bench clearing brawl. After serving his 7 game suspension he pitched a solid game against Iowa, winning 6-3. In his third start of the year, against Colorado in the top of the 7th, Boyd hit opposing pitcher Tony Young starting another bench clearing brawl.

Boyd is scheduled to start in Ohio on May 5th - beware Knights.

What is the source of such anger? Is he feeling the pressure of being the club's 2018 first round pick? Is it his struggles to develop, going from a 4 star prospect to a 2 star?

Who knows, but the fans are interested to see if he can keep it together or if he will spend half the season suspended...stay tuned.
