2024 Discussion Thread

We have finally reached Spring Training 2024 as we have concluded the 2023 Offseason.

Colorado is coming off their 4th title in AFBL history and will they continue their successes or will age begin to catch up to them in the FL West? Can Texas continue their playoff streak which is the longest in AFBL history and every year of our existence? Indiana will continue to be a threat in the FL along with New Mexico. Will the Frontier League see a new face in the playoffs this season?

Pennsylvania has been the best team in the Regular Season the past two years but has fallen short in the Federation Cup Series both times. Can they get over the hump with their loaded squad? The rest of the PL North will be a battle with Ontario, New York who made the playoffs for the 1st time last year, and a reloaded New Jersey team. The PL South has been Virginia's recently and is setting up to stay the same again.

Will we see any changes in the powerhouses and begin to see a shift in the AFBL playoff picture?

We will move the 2024 Ammy Draft from November 15, 2024 to June 1st, 2025 with the Draft Pool revealed on February 1st, 2025. Just a heads up as we move forward. This will be our new Ammy Draft format going forward. It will allow us to draft alongside Spring Training, March, April, and May which will be just over 2 weeks or so.

Rehab Fails, Career Over For Mallards MacNamara

This time Tony MacNamara knew it was time to call it a career. "I'd give anything if I could to get back out there and play again," he told BNN. "You don't know how bad I want to say, 'You know what? Maybe I can try it again.' But then reality sets in. And common sense sets in. There ain't no way I can go through that again." Yesterday after meeting with team medical specialists, the 27-year-old California Mallards left fielder decided to retire from baseball because of a fractured ankle. MacNamara tried long and hard to rehabilitate the injury, but the damage was just too severe.

MacNamara has a lifetime .286 batting average and .364 on-base percentage in his 920-game career with 925 hits and 167 home runs.

Slight update and change to the new Ammy Draft date after I realized that the College season goes through June...

I'm double checking things now in a test world of AFBL but I'm planning on moving the High School and College seasons to start March 1st from April 1st, move the Ammy Draft from June 1st to July 10th, and the Draft Pool and International FAs reveal to April 1st. This will keep the HS season at 50 games and the COL season at 100 games.

Hey Matt,

Somehow my 6th round pick, MR Hector Castro, was cut from my team on January 27th.  Not sure why, but can I have him back?

Also, it appears as though MR Freddy Gonzalez was cut back in November and I didn't do that.  I double-checked my settings and Transactions (signing, releasing players etc) is not on CPU so I don't know why these players were cut.  Anyone else seeing this with their teams?

Remember if you picked an International FA guy they get placed in that nonexistent Rookie League International Complex. Check there.  I'll remember to move anyone not moved from there for next sim.

Well, I found him. I went to the draft history of my team and there he was selected in the fourth round so I opened his profile and moved him to the triple AAA team (later I demoted him). It worked for me so Im fine

Sadly that's the only way I think. Hopefully that changes in future OOTP games.
