2017 Draft Thread
« on: March 14, 2014, 11:19:50 am »
We'll hang out here for Amateur Draft related talk!

Washington is free to pick here or in Statslab when it's ready (I'll work on it today).

Statslab draft link: http://www.afblbaseball.com/afbl/statslab/draftBoard.php

We'll likely conduct the entire draft offline using Statslab but I'm open to a live draft night if we want!

Statslab is ready to go with the current draft order and draft picks traded (picks 13-20 are subject to change, currently in order of WIN%).

Washington is free to start us off with the Ammy Draft whenever!

Gah, I debated quite a bit about my first pick, but Chandler is a reasonably well developed, switch hitting catcher.  Let's hope he's worth it!

His arm isn't great, but other than that he looks like an ideal catcher.  I always like my catchers to be smart.

Depending on the NY picks, will be interesting to see who's there at #4.

C Willie Patton had a great second season for us and broke a number of team records, but I still need help everywhere especially with a lot of aging position players. I'm hoping next year will break our streak of 4 straight years with 90+ losses, but we might be another year away from that.

Yeah what is taking NY so long? Nearly 4 days to make their picks.

He just picked. He's been battling a stomach bug.

I actually almost went with Jed Anderson there because of pretty much comp offensive potential (aside from the power) but much better fielder. But they're both 22 and Ortiz is a bit further along. I couldn't bring myself to take a closer at #4 overall. So went with need over best available player since we also have Colorado's first pick to nab whoever is still out there.

Ontario let me know that he'll be picking today.

We will move to a draft timer starting tomorrow at 8am CT. Likely a 4-6 hour window per draft slot with it resetting after each pick. I'll post the final details later today. I'd like to finish the Ammy Draft by next week (maybe Wed?).

I'll be updating the draft order with the playoff teams and their picks (and traded picks) in Statslab today.

Sorry I was feeling all kinds of awful, moving was not pleasant and I just didn't even think about the league or anything because I left my computer in another room and just slept on and off most of the time.

As far as the draft, I need so much it was nice to be able to draft guys with high ceilings and work on hopeful development. Could have a leadoff hitter and 4 hitter right there.

Also to put it out there I am interested in trading back into the first round if anyone has interest in figuring out a trade.
