Adjustment to Free Agency rules.
« on: July 22, 2013, 09:20:58 pm »
Okay there is literally 100 players I want. Waiting 100 days we'll be several seasons down the road. Is there anyway we can adjust the FREE AGENT process since they are Free Agents :P

Considering the low level of talent available via Free Agency, I agree that at slightly larger limit is within reason. I would suggest 3-5 free agent signings per real world day.

I understand we have ghost players activated, but ghost players don't take random talent boosts and become serviceable major leaguers. It might be a long shot, but I always fill my minors because the chance is there. If we don't have roster limits in the minors then we should consider that as well.

My 2 cents.

Agree with the roster limits for minors.

Understood. I wouldn't be opposed to extending it to 2 signings per 24-hour period as sort of a compromise :) . If there are more people for this than against, then I can implement this starting on Monday after the Opening Day sim is uploaded.

I would also allow a minor league roster size limit with maybe the Rookie League roster having a larger size limit (50-75?) with the rest of the minors having a roster size limit closer to the 30-40 range. Thoughts?

Test if roster limits in minors actually work matt, guys in another league I play in said that they don't actually work, but of course work in the majors.

Never really tested it myself.

Just checked... my options for Active Roster Size for the minor leagues are from 35-50 players. I'd be for setting the Active Roster Size for the Rookie League to 50 and the other levels to 35?

Just want to put out a friendly reminder that no FA signings should be made in the game. ALL signs have to take place on the forum.

Does it allow anyone to sign players in the game still? If so, how do I prevent it?

What happens when you put more guys on the roster than the roster limit? The game won't stop you simming will it?

We had a guy with 65 players on one minor roster, even though limit was set at 35, so the commish had to manually check each sim.

That's a good question. We could implement minor league Active Roster Size limits then I can monitor any team roster violations before each sim? We would then have to have some sort of warning/punishment system. Maybe your roster get auto trimmed by myself released oldest in level or promoting to different level if within that level's size limit?

I just tested this in another league I'm in and was able to export with more players than the limit on one minor league team. I don't know if the commish will get a warning. I will let you know when he sims later today.
