I just tested this in another league I'm in and was able to export with more players than the limit on one minor league team. I don't know if the commish will get a warning. I will let you know when he sims later today.

I appreciate you testing this. I'm curious of what happens. Thanks!

I exported with 31 (max 30) players on my AA team. Commish simmed. I d/l the new file and still 31 guys at AA. Seems that it doesn't matter what the limits are set at.

I'm fine with either having max roster size limits for the different levels of the minors or none at all. I say if we do install a max active roster size for the different levels of the minors then we can have a tiered penalty system...

1st time offense: a warning via PM/email, team must fix by next sim
2nd time offense: Commish either promotes/demotes oldest on roster to get active roster under max roster size OR cut oldest on affected roster if promote/demote isn't an option
3rd time and beyond: same as 2nd time + additional player releases AND/OR loss of highest round available draft pick for the next draft (7th round pick or whatever is the last pick for the team considering trades)

I'm also fine with just bumping the number of FAs signed per 24-hour period to 2 players and not enable a max active roster size for the minor leagues.

I like this one. It would still take forever for a single team to accumulate a ton of players.

I think - that immediately after the draft - that the 1 per day rule is good.  However, once we get further removed from the draft, I don't see how it could hurt to increase the number of players.  By then, everyone has had a shot at them.

I like this. 1 per 24 hour period from post draft thru opening day sim then 2 (maybe 3) per 24 hour per period thru the regular season to the Ammy draft.

Sounds good to me - I'd cap it at 2 per day thoguh, that's 14 FAs per real-life week, which is one month in game.

The only time this should be changed is IF an organisation has a significant amount of retirements in one year (say more than 10), then an appeal to the commish can be made.

Or, another option, thinking about what Arizona GM wants to do, during ST you are allowed to dump 10 guys, and replace these with 10 from the FA Pool.

Yeah if you add point 3 to point 1, you can effectively add 24 new guys to your organisation within one game month (ST and first game month), you then clear your roster by 10 deadweights, but also don't just pillage the FA pool. So this ensures that there are still guys available.

What everyone has to remember though... just by having guys in your minors, doesn't mean they'll develop, they need game time to develop, so if you overload your minor league teams, you won't get the development expected.

Also I believe the game only plays 30 guys at the most for any level with the others being inactive but still on the roster. Can anyone confirm this?

This is absolutely true and why I self-regulate my minor league teams to 25-30 guys.

Also I believe the game only plays 30 guys at the most for any level with the others being inactive but still on the roster. Can anyone confirm this?

This seems reasonable but I do not know for sure. I'll ask in the beta forums and see what I get.

I don't think I'll enable a roster size limit actually.

You release a player in the game or post on the forum. You post in the forum to claim/sign free agents.
