Can I bring up a topic for this off season? This is going to sound salty but oh well.
It probably matters a lot less here than it does in real life, but because baseball is all about last at bats.....
I'd like to see us move to the traditional 2-2-1-1-1 playoff format instead of 2-3-2. I think the 2-3-2 takes away the home field advantage the higher seed has earned through a 162 game season. In a 2-3-2 format, the lower seed team needs to win just one road game in order to win the series in 5 games. However, the higher seed team has to win two road games to win in the same number of games.
Throw in the park that I had to go on the road to play 3 in a row and it gave my opponent an even bigger advantage when I should have that advantage as a higher seed.
I feel as though this, at minimum, neutralizes home field advantage and, at worst, actually makes it easier on the underdog team to upset the higher seed.
I know it sounds like I'm whining just because I lost, and I'm sure that I am to a bit, but I also feel this way in real life when it comes to playoffs and that's why its not used much at all. In fact, I believe the NBA used to use but moved away from it. The argument in real life is it saves money by only traveling twice...but that' isn't a problem for us.
