I think there is a error with the file Jose Cruz and Terry Wellenberg seem to have migrated back to Iowa plus the 3rd player in the deal seems to be in Iowa IC and my RL plus on top of all the IOWA seems to have hit the jack pot and gotten a free 4 star player but that isnt the problem more of a dam what a lucky guy.

Ugh damnit. Can you list below who should be where and DFA those guys in your game for your export? List any instructions if needed.

Everybody seems to be on Iowa even Mori who is the only player on my team from the trade but he shows up On Iowa as well :/

Jose Cruz and Terry Wellenberg should be on my ML roster

Everything is updated!

Spring Training starts Thursday and finishes up on Friday. Opening Day 2021 is Monday!

There was lots of player movement in the offseason to go along with the once in a lifetime draft pool. Will be see a new  team that makes the playoffs this season or will we see the former powerhouses continue to slug it out.

Good luck everyone! I expect every team to export by Opening Day with my hopes of one or both Spring Training sims.

Weird sorry about that.  Not sure why it happened. Just make sure you DFA anyone that shouldn't be there and please you and IA post any instructions if necessary.

More of a once every few years, please-let-Matt-screw-up-more Draft class. Similar to the year of the Ratz draft class.

According to his, Colorado will not make the playoffs and the defending champ will have potentially 2 play in games before actually making it to the playoffs.

We nearly had a perfect export for the 1st ST sim (KY and PA missing, I promoted any players on DL then auto'd staff/charts/lineups)!

New file is up and HTML Reports and Statslab are coming later this morning.

Be sure to check for any injuries as I do not handle those during ST.

Gotta tell you, for a team that has struggled so long that is an encouraging start to spring training. Records don't mean anything but my top 5 hitters are all doing well. My catcher I called up is hitting for solid power numbers. Good performances out of a lot of guys. Hopefully this is the beginning of a turn around finally.

Opening Day is Monday! Please get your export in by 6am CT on Monday.

With all the player movement this offseason, it will certainly be an interesting season to watch develop. Good luck this year!

Colorado certainly likes the HTML Reports Predictions better :)...

Wow not thinking much of New York despite a lot of reasons to be positive after spring training. I know its spring training but a lot of guys played well. I hope that carries over into the season. Would be nice to be competitive finally and would really be ahead of schedule as I expected this draft to play a big part of the turn around.

Let's go ahead and apply the newest (as of this morning 9/27) and final OOTP15 patch!

http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/board/ootp-15-general-discussions/247902-ootp-15-update-6-build-15-6-31-available-now.html

From Markus' post on the OOTP Forum...
Quote
OOTP 15 update #6 (build 15.6.31) is available now!
Hey guys,

We have just officially released the 6th update for OOTP 15, version number 15.6.31. It is a maintenance release which fixes reported problems, including 3D issues on some graphic chipsets and issues with Mac OSX 10.9.6 and Yosemite.

Important: This update is only for OOTP 15 versions which were purchased directly from us or resellers who use our version. It is NOT compatible with Steam or the Mac OSX AppStore version! Those updates will be submitted and made available ASAP.

Update Info: To apply the update, simply download the setup file and install it over your current installation. There is no need to uninstall or unlicense your current copy! However, you should quit the game before installing it, of course. Saved games are compatible between different versions.

Download link for PC:
Main server: PC Installer

Download link for Mac:
Main Server: Mac OS X Installer

Download link for Linux:
Main Server: Linux Installer

Here are the improvements / fixes compared to version 15.5:
- Fixed issues with some graphic chipsets displaying 3D mode
- Fixed problems with licensing on MacOSX 10.9.6 and OSX 10.10 (Yosemite)
- Improved in-game AI
- Improved play-by-play commentary
- Fixed several user reported bugs and glitches

This is likely the last update for OOTP 15 as development on OOTP 16 has already begun. Thanks everyone for the support, this has been the most successful version ever for us!

Cheers!
Markus

LOL I guess but I had hoped to come out of the gate competitive and these guys I am counting on the most are not getting it done. I mean I suspect/more or less know Thomas, Mac and Gordon will ultimately turn it around but I was hoping for a quick start.

Better second sim. Not great but 6-4 is not bad after 1-4. At least going in the right direction. PA kicked my butt overall sweeping me. Pretty happy with starting pitching. Mountainman and Nuke each had a bad start which skewed their ERA but over all they and Irvin and Williams have pitched well. Some signs of life, though still have things to fix for an organization that needs to learn how to win instead of lose.

4-5 isn't bad for us, but we lost Artie Bass for a few months.  Injuries also hit 2/3 of our outfield and our bullpen.  It's gonna be another long year.

Vipers are 12-2 and it is hard to believe.  Multi batting title winner Tommy Carr is hitting .255.  Last year's FL pitcher of the year and 22 game winner Cipriano Hernandez is struggling.  Antonio Herrera who had 40 HR and 127 RBI last year is currently hitting .100.

It's depth guys who have been mediocre their whole career that are killing it now.  We are winning close games and this record could easily be .500 right now.  Vipers are 6-1 in one run games already this year.  That's half of our total games.

7-3 sim with a few crazy high scoring games but pitching has been great except for 2 of them other wise with my hitting like this I think I could take the division.
Title: Re: 2021 Discussion Thread
Post by: captaincoop17 on October 01, 2014, 02:05:26 pm
6-4 sim puts us at 7-8 on the year, good for 2nd place in the division.

The crazy part about this sim is that we ended it on a 5 game winning streak in which we allowed a total of ONE run! During the streak, we've outscored opponents 22-1.

Post by: mikezone13 on October 01, 2014, 02:47:46 pm
We suck, rebuild definitely in full-swing now, 4-5 on the sim to go with our 0-5 first up sim has us firmly in the bottom of the division, and close to the bottom in the league.

We don't suck but we are very just okay. No real reason why. Hitters are hitting mostly, pitchers are pitching well mostly just not all at once I guess.

I am going to look to trade another starter. He wont be named Willie McCann or Childress but if any of the rest are of interest to anyone, let me know. Ideally looking for prospects and picks.  I feel pretty secure in my ML team  right now.

Title: Re: 2021 Discussion Thread

The 2-game series are for the interleague games since everyone plays the other league's teams 4 times each.

The long stretches without days off shouldn't be more than 15 or whatever. This year's schedule should be like last years but with the order randomized. I have 4 variations of our custom schedule so they all should be similar in setup.

Anyway I have several trades I need to make like what I did with Christensen to NY
Kurota needs a new home. Kills lefty, does righties alright. Hitting over .300 this season but He could be better than what my team gives him.
Thurnberg needs a new home.
Others.

Its getting to a point where its like what is the point? I have guys that are playing really well. Even some guys that are playing much better than I anticipated but if one part of the team gets better in a sim, than another crashes (in this case the entire bullpen). Not one or two guys, all of their ERAs basically went up and most of them by a lot because they all got shelled. Its always something.

4 game losing streak 3-6 (7-12 May) plus my team not getting runs across the plate and pen failing not a good sim at all, really hope I can pick it up. The 2 losses to Penn at the end really hurt as well. Losing Lonnie and Jeff could really hurt this team

I finally got around to clearing up some wording in the AFBL Rules (http://www.afblbaseball.com/afbl/docs/afblrules.htm) and updated the screenshots of the league settings, FYI.

EDIT: Another cleanup and organization of the rules structure on 10/9

Updates from 10/9 and 10/8 include...
-put in writing: scouting - on, coaching - off, ghost players enabled/allowed
-Winter Meetings rule/vote clarification
-All Star Game
-Relocation guidelines
-Draft pick trading (only current pick and following draft picks allowed, PTBNL/Future Considerations allowed but its on the teams to remember to complete deal when possible on the forum)
-20 International Amateurs generated on Sept 1 and added to the Ammy Draft pool (not able to be claimed until after draft)

Hopefully his bat and can ignite the Corncob offense and propel us into the playoff picture.

NJ continues to be pretty average, a little burst here or there could help, but honestly we're going to hover around 12th or 13th across the whole league I reckon. Keeping a close eye on the Iowa Athletics :) to see how they're going and what draft picks we'll be getting.

Wow, this unit keeps on impressing me, a 7-3 sim with all losses by just 1 run means we're keeping pace around .500. This sim had the vaunted matchup against the Iowa Corncobs full of ex-Athletics, nice to say that we were triumphant in a 2 game series sweep.

It's our power game and pitching that is getting us the wins as we already have 8 players with 5+ home runs each, including 3 players who have hit 10 or more.

I really don't get how we're just 30-31?guess it must be the starting pitching. Ron Martin needs to step it up or he may be relegated to the bullpen for a more consistent option.

3B Mike Garza came up big in his first taste of AFBL action - .278 AVG, 4 HR in 9 games (38 AB's)

We'll also be calling up another first round pick from the last draft, SP Eric Horton (http://www.afblbaseball.com/afbl/reports/news/html/players/player_4172.html). Except, we're putting Horton and his power arm into the closers role, to replace the incumbent Byron Newbold.

OOTP announced a final patch to the final OOTP15 update. Please apply the update when you can. Thanks guys!

http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/board/ootp-15-general-discussions/247902-ootp-15-update-6-build-15-6-33-available-now-updated-october-14th.html

Quote
OOTP 15 update #6 (build 15.6.33) is available now! (Updated October 14th)
Update October 14th: The prior version of this patch no longer had Opening Day rosters, but rather ones that reflected rosters from early August. That was a mistake, so we reverted the rosters back to Opening Day and updated the patch version number to 15.6.33. If you want Opening Day rosters for new games, please download & install the patch below over your current installation. Thanks!

Hey guys,

We have just officially released the 6th update for OOTP 15, version number 15.6.33.

Cheers!
Markus

Good sim for us, pushing us back into the tight playoff picture. We're 4 games out of a wild card spot, and 7 out of the division, but based on our pythagorean record, we're right in the thick of things with everyone else. We're going to need to go on a couple more runs to stay in the hunt, but I'm more than confident that this team can do that.

Starting pitching prospect-turned-closer Eric Horton has had a very good debut. In his 5 major league games, he has pitched in 5.2 innings, struck out 11, allowed just 4 hits, and saved 3 games.

We haven't had both teams missed before but NC missed in 2016 after their 2015 FCS appearance and KY missed in 2019 after their FCS appearance.

Only NJ and Texas played the postseason all the seasons jeje. Ron Taylor 18Ks against Iowa and he didnt win that match pffff. the rest of the pitchers are bullying him.

We have an eye on the next sim where we will face Indiana, West Virginia and New Mexico  :o

Who would've thought this revamped and young Athletics side could go on a 9-1 sim? Well that's just what we did. Closer Bob Jones collected the pitcher of the month (0.60 WHIP on the season) while 3B Jake White took home his second rookie of the month award.

Athletics still in 2nd place in the division, only 2 games back and above .500 at the ASG - never would've predicted this.

P.J. Foley Hits #400
Tuesday, July 27th, 2021

At The Boom Box P.J. Foley smashed his 400th career home run in a game against Washington today. The 37-year-old first baseman had a hand in the Colorado Bears 11-1 victory with 1 home run and 3 RBI. For the day he went 3 hits-5 at-bats.

At the press conference after the game, Foley downplayed his achievement.

"Obviously, I've hit 400 home runs so I belong in that 400 club. But when you talk about the other guys that have done it, I'm not as good as they were. Those guys were the greatest of all time. I've just been able to scrape together some good years and stayed healthy and gotten there."

Lifetime Foley is batting .279 and has totaled 400 home runs.

9-1 in the last 10 matches of the sim but our only loss was awful. leading by 3 in the bot 9 and New Mexico scored 3 runs and won with a home run in the extra innings. Now we are 2 wins away from Indiana but with 101 matches played (Indiana has 100). It will be a great battle and Illinois could join us soon if they keep playing like that (8-2 the last sim).

I lost Murray in the expansion draft >_< He showed no signs of this ability. Depending on how the division race goes, Ratz may miss it cause i'll bench his ass as soon as positioning cannot be affected.

I only lost a backup OFer.

This Sim sucked but Colorado wasnt much better. Indy still owns my ass.

This is my least favorite part of the season cause there isnt much to do with no trades until call ups :)

Tommy Carr will be back for Friday's sim and if healthy the rest of the way, will go back to leading the league in batting average.  He's currently around .380 and after this current sim dropped off the league leaders because he didn't qualify.

NJ sucked that sim, thankfully Ontario wasn't any better.

Going to be an interesting back end of the season in our division, on paper Ontario and Pennsy have the better rosters even after we strengthened at the trade deadline.

5-5 sim is ok but not good compared to what NJ is doing and really Hiroshi Saito maks a spot start for Iowa and pitches a CG something he NEVER did for the Blue Pirates UGHH, least I won 2 out of 3 against them.

I sent Ken Torpy down to minors last sim for not pitching great and in AAA he sucked but he comes back up 2 starts 2 wins .64 era .79 whip 14 innings pitched wow

Just to clarify how the new International Amateurs option will work...

The 20 International Amateur FAs ('Free Agents' > 'International Amateur FA' tab in the game) will be added to the Amateur Draft Pool in Statslab for our drafting. So just keep these players in mind when scouting the available draftees while in the game. I'll have these players dumped into the Draft Pool players in Statslab when we get to the end of the regular season.

AFBL has yet to have a Federation Cup winner that finished with the best record in the AFBL. Will this trend be broken this season?

I have enabled the voting for the 2021 Season Awards in Statslab a day early. Feel free to vote and edit as needed until the vote closes at the end of the playoffs.

Do we want to continue to let the game decide the Best Defender Awards or turn back on manual GM votes?

I voted in the awards (VOTE BENNIIE! VOTE JACKIE!) because it's the American thing to do.

The game just selects the best zone Rating per position but I find that better then having very deserving GG lose to popular player who may have had a good year but not great at defense but either way it usually works out on average.

Yeah I agree and this is why we moved to the game voting for GGs after our 1st year.

The PL North and the PL South are both tied with just 15 games to go!

PA holds the tiebreaker over NJ in the North with their current 10-6 season series lead. PA-NJ have 2 more games in their current 3-game series left in the season.

WV hold the tiebreaker over VA in the South with their current 9-6 season series lead. WV-VA play a 3-game series to finish the regular season.

Current playoff picture is still unchanged in terms of seeding...

Just a reminder that a tie after 162 games in the division will result in a game 163 being played in a special extra regular season sim. I will stop simming if we do need a Game 163 until both teams involved are ready to determine the division winner.

Division winners have homefield advantage in the best-of-7 Wildcard Series. League Championship Series is a best-of-7 as well with the highest remaining seed earning HFA. Federation Cup Series is a best-of-9 with the team with the highest win percentage earning HFA in the FCS Cup.

1 seed is the division winner with the highest win percentage
2 seed is the other division winner
3 seed is the wildcard with the highest win percentage
4 seed is the other wildcard

Somehow despite losing 4 members of my starting lineup in early September, the warhawks are having their best month of the season.  3 days into the sim we will get our 2b, and cf back to make one last push for the playoffs!!  Hopefully I can pick up the 2 games at home against Texas and then NM and IN can finish them off after that   :D

Now I have to tinker with my rotation to set it for the playoffs.  Unfortunately, I still have you to contend with for best record in a possible 2nd round matchup for home field.

New Mexico, Texas, Illinois all still battling for wild cards as well.  Iowa needs a mini-miracle but is still alive as well despite riding a 7 game winning streak.

Potential ties for seeding...

FL1: Indiana up 2 games on Colorado -> IN-CO tied season series at 5, 2nd tiebreaker is highest pyth. record
FL2: Colorado (or Indiana) holds this spot
FL3: New Mexico up 1 game on Texas -> TX won season series 6-4 and holds tiebreaker with NM
FL3: New Mexico up 3 games on Illinois -> IL won season series 7-3 and holds tiebreaker with NM
FL4: Texas up 1.5 games on Illinois -> IL won season series 11-7 and holds tiebreaker with TX
FL4: Texas up 4.5 games on Iowa -> IA won season series 13-5 and holds tiebreaker with TX; IA elimination number is 1 (TX win or IA loss in any remaining game)
FL5*: Illinois up 3 games on Iowa -> IA won season series 10-8 and holds tiebreaker in a potential tie with IL

PL1: Virginia up 5 games on West Virginia -> WV leading season series 9-6 with 3 games left at WV, VA magic number is 2
PL2: New Jersey up 1 game on Pennsylvania -> PA won season series 11-7 and holds tiebreaker with NJ
PL3: West Virginia up 4 games on Pennsylvania -> PA leading season series 5-2 with 3 games left at WV
PL4: Pennsylvania up 5.5 games on Ontario -> ON elimination number is 1 (PA win or ON loss in any remaining game)

AFBL will have a hitting triple crown in the PL. Virginia's 1B Pete Murray is having an historic season with a .383 AVG, 48 HR, and 160    RBI.

New Mexico's CF Bennie Ratzlaff is close to a hitting triple crown in the FL but would need to raise his AVG 20+ points and hit at least 3 HRs.

Colorado's SP Tony Yong has a shot to earn a pitching triple crown in the FL; trails in ERA by 0.27 behind TX's Ron Taylor, leads in W with 19, and leads in K by 1 over Taylor with 308.

5-1 in the final sim to clinch another division title for New Jersey, I would've bet my left nut we'd get nowhere the 92 win mark after we dismantled the roster before the season started. Kudos to the young guys who came in an bought into the culture of the organisation :D

We can start the playoffs when all 8 teams are ready or TOMORROW morning at 6am CT at the latest. Remember we sim daily for the playoffs at the minimum and we can definitely go at the speed of the playoffs teams if they are all ready to continue.

I'll get the Ammy Draft order and setup in Statslab today as time allows at work. Thanks guys!
