Bob Ormiston and Cristo De La Garza roamed the Arizona outfields and punished pitchers all year. Ormiston was nearly hitter of the year and De la Garza has proved he can be a threat for 10 years or more in Arizona.
Ormiston will walk away with the MVP in Arizona this year but none of De la Garza's contributions can be taken lightly!

Despite only being around for a short time I'm going to address the 2022 Danger MVP as well as the missing years of 2016-2019.

Starting with the 2022

2022 - OF Bennie Ratzlaff led the FL in Sluggling (.642), OPS (1.019), WAR (8.2) Isolated Power (.310). Limited to just 125 games due to a hand injury, Bennie was still able to hit .332 with 40 homers, 96 runs and RBIs along with 31 steals. The 40 homers marks the sixth straight season he has hit that mark.

C Willie Patton definitely gets a nod for a fantastic season. He hit a career high 41 homers this season knocking in 105 (also a career best).

2016 - SP Jose Rodriguez 13-9 3.58 ERA
2017 - OF Bennie Ratzlaff .267 43 HR 96 RBI 22 SB
2018 - OF Bennie Ratzlaff .306 42 HR 122 RBI 43 SB
AFBL - New Mexico Danger Career - 493-349 (.586)
Postseason - 31-23 (.574)  Wild Card: 1 Division Titles: 3 FL Titles: 3 AFBL Titles : 0
NPBL - Georgia Generals Career - 2964-2509 (.542)

In 2023 we had the following nominees were...

SP Pat Bowles 18-6 3.23 ERA 1.16 WHIP

Pat led us in wins, ERA, innings (236.2). Pitching wise the Danger were maybe on the top end of mediocre IMO. Pat was the best of this group though and we probably wouldn't have made the post season with out him.

CF Bennie Ratzlaff .301 125 R 39 HR 114 RBI 53 SB .929 OPS

"Rats" started off hot banging out 25 homers (307 ABs) in the first 3 months but made this a tougher call than I would of thought by slumping a bit the final 3 months of the season. After June he had 14 homers (301 ABs). Still a great season overall though. Its almost a sign of how good you are when you hit 39 homers (the first time he failed to hit 40 in his career) and hit .301 (his lowest batting average since he was a rookie at 17 years old) and it feels like a down year.

Man this is tough....but I still think I have to give it to Pat. Here is why. In July Bennie slumped to a .227 average and only had 7 RBIs for the month. We were dealing with injuries at the time in our lineup and really could have slipped a good bit. Pat went 4-0 in 5 starts with a 0.89 ERA during that same time which helped us go 13-9 in July when we were missing a number of guys. We only made the post season by beating Illinois for the last wildcard by just 2 games. I don't think we do that without Pat stepping up when he did.

2023 Danger MVP is going to be SP Pat Bowles
