AFBL Announces Expansion in 2017, Relocation Freeze til 2022
« on: November 08, 2013, 06:51:45 am »
AFBL league officials confirmed what the league was beginning to realize today when they made it official that the league will expand from 16 franchises to 20 franchises when it opens the season in 2017. The AFBL will see a few current franchises call a new location home as well.

The Commissioner's Office is extremely happy with how its first 3 seasons have gone and excited to have the opportunity to grow the league by 4 additional teams. The AFBL league office is still working with the 4 expansion team owners to finalize details about the new major league team's locations with 2 locations selected and approved by the Commissioner (Nevada and Idaho). The league will likely need to realign after the new expansion team locations are selected and any relocation from current teams are finalized.

AFBL also is announcing that the league will be under a franchise relocation freeze once the 2017 regular season beings until 2022 at the minimum and preferably 2025. The Commissioner wants to restabilize the league after the 2017 relocation and expansion.
