Matt has kindly provided permission for me to to promote a new league I'm starting up - The Sydney Baseball Championship (SBC), yes it's based in Australia, with all teams coming through from Sydney - the birthplace of baseball in Australia in this fictional world.
Obviously I do not want to have any negative impact on AFBL, so please don't join the SBC if you think it'll put your participation in AFBL in jeopardy - I cannot stress this enough.
The website can be found here
http://happybandits.com/ootp/online_leagues/sbc_main/ where the rules are posted and also a few articles to give you some background on the league and the teams.
Currently the Roosters, Giants and Rabbitohs are taken.
What makes SBC different you may ask.. well here's a quick snippet:
- The commish is the commish only, I will not run a team
- Team names, locations, minor league affiliates (2 levels only) and uniforms are provided by the league to each of the teams and the league will maintain control of these at least in the formative years while the SBC is being established (my view on how baseball would've started in Australia)
- 8 teams only, this will likely grow in the future
- League begins in 1950 with full financial evolution, although strategies are set to modern day
- As the league is Sydney (state of NSW) based the majority of players come from Sydney, again my interpretation of how baseball would've evolved in the 1950's
- I have a few other quirky 'storylines' up my sleeve for the evolution of the league
- 126 game ML schedule with a 'christmas and new year break' as baseball is played in summer months (october through april down-under)
- Typical 7 day sim, everyday (i.e. 7 sims a week) - this means about 1 real life month per in-game season -
if you can't commit to this type of schedule then SBC isn't for youOK - what am I looking for, fully committed GMs who are not just interested in the concept but who wish to be part of the evolution of a league based in a non-traditional baseball country.
Thanks for reading and I hope to see a couple of you on board!
Email or PM if interested.
