its called strategy. why have managers if you never have to make decisions? pinch hit? double switch? DH is BS. If you cannot play the field, get the f out of baseball (last part especially is regarding real baseball, though I am not in favor of DH here either).
There are TONS of players who cannot effectively bat and they have jobs because of their defensive skills. There is tons of strategy in American league ball. Having 2 rule sets in one game is BS.
There isn't as much strategy, maybe some hit and run scenarios, etc. But you don't have to decide things like stick with hot hand on the mound v trying to get a hitter in there to generate offense. You don't see the same kind of double switches to change the line up.
You know if you don't like two sets of rules, your issue is with the AL and the DH, not the NL. There was no DH and there was one set of rules. The AL decided to implement the DH creating a second set of rules. Now because of wanting one set the league following the original rules should change? Not sure that works.
Again, I fully believe if you cannot field any position you do not belong in a pro sport. JMO anyway. Obviously you and others do not agree.
