Well it has finally happened, Maddox Hynes of the New Jersey Athletics has overtaken Ben Day as the holder of the most consecutive saves, he now has 47 in a row and is on his way to notching the half century.
The Ottawa native has saved 5 games this season to post the mark and is an integral part of the New Jersey bullpen. Yes it helps pitching after some dominant starters like Jorge Sepulveda, but when asked Hynes just gets the job done and sits down the opposition.
Career wise Maddox (a 13th round pick in the inaugural draft) has saved 167 games (7 more than his closest rival) in 4 and a bit seasons with an ERA Of 2.24 and a WHIP of 0.97. Yes this guy is money on the mound!
