Title: 2023 Amateur Draft Discussion
Post by: mstreeter06 on March 23, 2015, 07:05:31 am
We can begin the draft here until Statslab is ready. North Carolina is up whenever they are ready!

Picks 1-1 through 1-12 are the only picks that are set. Just keep that in mind. Also the draft order in the game will be incorrect as well. I'll adjust traded picks after the playoffs are finished.

We are going to go with a running 24-hour clock starting this draft. It will give each team a full day to make their pick before your pick gets auto'd by the CPU. The timer will reset after each pick so just be sure to be checking in on the forum and Statslab like I expect you to normally.

The 24-hour timer will start at 8am CT on 3/25. If you know you'll be busy when your pick will come up, please be ready with a draft queue list in Statslab or talk to me via email/chat/IM and I'll be very happy to assist however possible.

This is help keep things moving in the draft to avoid long periods of inactivity during the draft like in years past during the playoffs. Thanks guys!

Sorry for the delay, I had a real struggle between infielder Ahilocana Gopalakrishnan (10 contact but low power) and pitcher Ben Dale (great prospect but rough senior season and low work ethic).

Maybe I'm reading too much into a bad season, but I went with Gop because Dale's ERA and WHIP got worse each year; yes, he did have an injury, but I just don't like the trend.

The Gopper, meanwhile, won the NC Outstanding Hitter Award as a senior, and has good speed and can play 2B, 3B or SS.  If only he had some pop.  I'll take a .382 average though.

No worries and yeah there really wasn't a clear frontrunner for the top pick but several quality choices.

I liked the Gopper #1 but agree with Matt, there are a few guys who can be argued for at the top of this draft...

24-hour timer starts in just over an hour. Draft order has been adjusted post Wildcard Series and adjusted for traded picks except for ON's traded picks and CO traded pick.

Washington is up at #7 overall followed by New Jersey, Maryland, Oregon, and California.

I have moved the traded picks from NY to ID in Statslab. I'll process the trade after the draft.

Oregon is up at 10th overall followed by California, Illinois, Idaho (via New York), and Indiana.

We're at pick 18th overall with West Virginia. We can't go pass this pick until after the Federation Cup is decided so I have pushed the timer back to start Monday temporarily. I'll adjust it to give pick 19 (PA or CO) 24 hours to select to get things moving after the FCS.

We'll keep a running 24-hour timer for the 1st and 2nd rounds. I'm planning on a running 12-hour timer after that. My plan is to finish the draft by next Monday, April 6th.

We have gotten as far as we can with the Ammy Draft until we conclude the Federation Cup Series. We'll pick things up once we have a 2023 champ.
