Virginia signs Rod O'Colgan

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA - NOVEMBER 10, 2032
The Virginia Diamond Club held a press conference today announcing the signing of longtime West Virginia Hollers pitcher Rod O'Colgan.

O'Colgan spoke with the media and had this to say, "I finally feel that my career has been validated here today being able to put on this Diamond Club jersey and one day I will wear it into the Hall Of Fame. It really felt like a sham all those years playing for 'West Virginia' when I know that's not even a 'real' state, it's really just a part of the state of Virginia. I felt like a fraud and now I feel like a new man."

He also congratulated his eldest son Rod O'Colgan Jr. (top pick SP - Bob Helman, see name change thread) on being drafted in the 1st round of the AFBL amateur draft this year straight out of New Orleans High School.

We reached out to Hollers management for comment but they have not yet responded.

Did you auto your minors while he was in AAA?  If you do that and the game tries to put him in a league he's too old for, the game will cut him.

Yes exactly what happened. I'm going to return O'Colgan back to WV but next time GMs need to pay attention especially when they are auto'ing their minors.

Boo! This move from Virginia to West Virginia will forever taint what was a HOF career by O' Colgan with The Virginia Diamond Club  ;D Oh well we still have Rod O' Jr.

Upon hearing the news of Rod O' Colgan signing with Virginia, West Virginia owner Joe Leahy suffered a massive heart attack and passed away while on vacation. (See email attachments) The signing was later voided and O' Colgan returned to the Hollers. His son Joe Leahy Jr. takes control of his father's share of the club, which is also owned by Stephin Clapham, who has not responded to our request for a comment.

The Virginia Diamond Club would like to dedicate our championship season in 2033 to Mr. Joe Leahy!
