I know I don't want to do 125 rounds, and that given the pace we're hitting, I want to do at least 25.

Where it should in the middle, I don't know.

I do think we should probably do an even number of rounds manually, since it's a serpentine draft.

The even number of rounds is a good and fair point. I was thinking of stopping at the end of the day on Wednesday the 29th and that would get us through 30 rounds. I like stopping at 30 then automating the remaining since it'll take me some time to enter in all the auto results.

Then I could release a new file on Friday, Spring Training 1st half Monday and 2nd half Wednesday, then Opening Day Friday the 7th. Right now this is my plan.

Maybe 30 rounds (or 40, if that's the expanded roster limit) is a good number for manual. That way it ends on an even number and we get to be able to select some of those players who will be filling the minors.

If the draft gets set to auto, does it still pick from your list if you have players on it, or is it full auto with drafting determined by the AI? If it picks from your list then it should work for everyone as they can just load their lists up with some guys they want and cross their fingers :)

I like the timing, though I agree with Chappy's point about doing the auto-draft in-game: the in-game algorithm does a better job of looking at positional need, so we should wind up with fairly balanced minor leagues that way instead of finding teams of all outfielders or whatever.

This would make my life easier as well to auto within the game.

Not after this draft. Our ammy drafts will be held at the end of the season in November 15th in the game each season. Draft pool released 75 days prior.

If the draft gets set to auto, does it still pick from your list if you have players on it, or is it full auto with drafting determined by the AI? If it picks from your list then it should work for everyone as they can just load their lists up with some guys they want and cross their fingers :)

Well, statslab will indeed draft off your list until it runs out of options and then it will pick what it thinks is the best available player.

There are two problems with this, though.  (1) It doesn't take into account what you have on your roster already, so you could wind up with 75 catchers and no outfielders and (2) Matt will be left manually inputting all 125 rounds so...

I strongly recommend we use the auto draft function IN-GAME after we finish manual picks.   This will mean (1) our teams will be more balanced by position and (2) Matt will only have to manually input 25-40 rounds of picks.  As a commish, I can say that this will take quite a while, although at least there are no traded picks to worry about.

With that in mind, I wouldn't take the time to put the whole pool into your list unless you have an easy sorting method and it doesn't take you a whole lot of time.
