2020 Idaho Season Thread
« on: July 26, 2014, 09:39:49 pm »
Coming off a horrendous 51-111 season, the Idaho Steelheads have nowhere to go but up. Buoyed by the #2 overall pick in the 2019 draft, CF, Bingham Klebel the lineup looks to improve in every area.

Let's take a look at the 2020 lineup and pitching staff:

Hitting
The 2020 lineup  against righties looks like this:

Leading off, #2 draft pick CF Bingham Klebel.
Batting second, 2B Francis Guibert.
Hitting third, 1B, Dana Little.
Cleanup, LF, Christo De La Garza.
In the 5th spot, 3B, Steve Carr.
Batting Sixth, C, Alex Perry.
Seventh, RF, Ignatio Pacheco.
Rounding out the lineup in the 8th spot, SS, Alex Harvey.

Against Lefties, Jonathan Clark plays 3rd base and hits 5th. Marc Dugles is in LF batting 6th. Perry moves to 7th and De La Garza switches corner OF spots and mans RF.

Pitching

The starting rotation is as follows:

24 year old Ron Booth is the number 1 starter. He is followed by:
Lou Wilson
Toby Caldwell
Jake Howard
Ken Torpy

The bullpen features former #7 overall pick Kal Bishop and closer Bradford Perron. The rest of the staff features a mix of lefties and righties. Should be a good bullpen.

Nice to see a couple of ex-Athletics in Pacheco and Lou Wilson getting game time.

One month in Pacheco has been relegated to the bench due to the call up of Stan Edmonds and Wilson is struggling big time and has been moved from #2 starter to the #4 starter.

April Review
« Reply #3 on: August 01, 2014, 03:02:41 pm »
The 2020 season has started off fairly well for Idaho. 9-12 which is a massive improvement over last years 6-20 opening month. The Idaho offense has been strong while the pitching has been inconsistent.

The Good
3B - Steve Carr has been on fire. Hitting .343-4-16.
LF/RF Christo De La Garza .325-6-15.
CF - Bingham Klebel .307 with 3 triples - named rookie of the month for April.
LF/1B Marc Dugles hitting .371 in limited time.

P- Ron Booth has been solid in 5 starts.
P - Toby Caldwell 3-1 4.50
P - Jake Howard is 2-2 4.44 in his rookie season.
P - Brad Perron has been solid with 8 saves and rookie Kal Bishop is having a decent start to his career.

The Bad
1B Dana Little started hot but has cooled down and is not showing any power production at all.

The Ugly
P - Lou Wilson 2-1 8.35 and Ken Torpy 0-3 7.00 have been roughed up thus far.

With rookies Klebel, Edmonds in the starting lineup and young pitchers Booth, Bishop, Perron starting to contribute the future seems pretty bright in Idaho. Let's see if May will bring more success for the young players.
