New league file has been uploaded with draft results through 7 rounds (located at the top right of the forum, extract into your saved_games folder). Let me know if you have any ballpark, logos, or anything to update to the game while we continue to draft. Thanks guys!

Hey guys!
AFBL's 2013 season is about to begin when league opens up with the 1st half of Spring Training tomorrow (12 games thru March 13th on the game calendar) May 31st in the morning, this will be my first live online sim so be patient with my first few sims ;D).
I have the online reports up (link on the right of the forum as 'Standings/Reports' but there is a known OOTP14-html reports bug with the team's pitching staffs only showing the rotation. No solution for this yet but I'll keep investigating on this issue.
If you need to send me updates to your franchise and don't have a copy of OOTP14 yet you can send me instructions via the forum board and I can make adjustments for you on my end. You should check out Chappy's NC instructions for an example.
I think I'll run the 2nd half of Spring Training (final 12 games of ST then sim until Opening Day)on Saturday or Sunday so we can have our league's inaugural Opening Day sim where I'll run the game 10 calendar days (April 1st thru April 10th).
Let me know if you have any questions or comments. Thanks!

Is there an updated league file, or am I just doing it wrong again?
I'm using the latest League File but am still only getting the first 7 rounds worth of players within the game. Yes, I'm probably playing the newbie card again. :)
UPDATE: Never mind, I didn't update from within the game...I'm getting the hang of this.

You won't see the changes in statslab until after the next sim is run.

Sadly, I'm not sure why the draft update emails didn't work either. Glad they worked for this latest update!

You only need to update your league file after each sim, there hasn't been a sim yet (except to get to the end of the draft).
I think what you did was make your changes, export your league file, but then reload the old league file over the top. I recommend only using the "Update league file" from within the game, this way it checks to ensure you have the latest copy of the league file.
Just remember, you only need to update AFTER the commish has completed a sim, currently he has only simmed once, to get us to the first day of spring training.

Correct. Thanks Mike!

I'll run sims at 6am CST MWF. I'll update the top right of the forum to reflect the change. Thanks guys!

Great, will you have an export cutoff time of 30 minutes or 60 minutes before that? Just got to plan as 6am CST is 9pm for me - which works awesome, however if cutoff for export files is 4am or something I'll have to get mine in a lot earlier.

I doubt I'll be up any earlier so that'll be the deadline :)

Good stuff, and remember, no getting drunk the night before a sim :D

First half of Spring Training has been simmed (12 games, thru game date March 14th). I'm generating game file and reports now. They'll be up soon then I'll update Statslab. I'll post when things are ready!

Brilliant, can't wait! The benefits of it being nearly 10pm in Australia, I get to see the sim results soon :D

Statslab is updated. Generating league file and reports as we speak!
-
Ouch, I've been smashed already, a 41y/o LF out for just under a year - that will be the end of his career I bet.
-
League file is updated so a new one is ready in the game. Still working on getting html reports to update properly as an FYI!

It says I have loaded an updated league file, however the date is still showing as March 3 and no ST games have been played. Any ideas?

I'll check shortly. You might need to try downloading the game file again when I'm ready.
-
Yeah it's definitely going a bit haywire.. I tried the linked league file up the top of the forum, but that just sends me back to a file at the start of the inaugural draft.
I'll try again soon, or once you send an email saying all is good.

the texas isotopes are onfire!!!!

I had to adjust the link to the 'Standings/Reports' at the top of the forum page. Chappy and I found that OOTP14 changed a path which threw us off.
So the HTML reports are up as well! I'll run the 2nd half of ST this weekend (Sat night or Sun morning) so we can have our opening day on Monday!
Let me know if the game file is or is not updating correctly within the game. Thanks for your patience this morning with my first sim haha!

Has the league file link at the top of the forum been updated as well? I tried to load that and it just sent me straight back to Jan 1st in game.

i think that the sim is perfect!! good work and thanks for it!!

Ah no that hasn't been updated yet. Just in the game! You can just update within the game after each sim. I can update that section to be more clear this morning. Thanks!

I tried in game, it didn't work. Then I accidentally overwrote what I already had with the old file, so I now don't have an up to date league file, and when I go update in game now, it says I have the latest league file even though I'm stuck at Jan 1st.
Help appreciated to get me back on track.

one question for all of you guys. your minors lineups or rosters are balanced?? in my teams there are a lot of players in the rookie league but if you go upwards, the rest of the teams are like a desert
-
My minors will be pretty empty once I get around to releasing all the 35+ year olds.
-

That should be how most teams currently are I'd think.
~~~~
I've added/updated a few minor things...
-ability to add social network info to your forum profile
-added your franchise's name and logo for uniformity
-changed Statslab setting to auto determine last sim to display full results (was showing 8 games instead of full sim)
-updated background image for HTML reports
-fixed images
-also remember the HTML reports (Standings/Reports link) doesn't show ST results/stats, check in Statslab or in game for ST info!
Thanks guys! 2nd half ST sim exports due by 10pm CST tomorrow!
-
chappy, you dont have the game yet?? who has paid for the game?? i download it using torrent and if you wanna i could put it on mega for direct download (for free)
-
Ill be getting the game when it goes on sale at the all star break, so I'll only be without it for the first season.
-
I'll be running the 2nd part of ST sim in the next 15 minutes or so!
-
perfect
-
2nd half of ST sim has been ran. Reports and Statslab updated! Opening Day is Monday morning at 6am CST!
-
What are everybody's owner expectations? Mine wants to see us in the playoffs.
-
After our ST performances, if I can keep the starting rotation healthy I've got to be thinking playoffs. Biggest danger is our lack of production with the bat, however in ST we shot that to pieces, but how often do ST performances translate across a full season.
So in summary - yes a top 3 spot in the league is the goal and expectation, anything less will be considered a poor season.
Just noticed you asked for my owner expectations, not mine.. DOH! I can't find mine ingame as I can't get an updated league file. I update ingame and it keeps giving me the 15th March file.
Colorado's expectation from the owner was to play .500 ball. Way to set the bar high Mr. Owner :).
-
I haven't had any issues.
Are you updated to the latest patch?
texas as well. maybe its the same for all of us
I lost my 2nd base man for 4 months so seasons already sucking lol well I think we all should be .500
I'm looking into why some box scores for ST aren't showing correctly and also why the development ratings are all showing 1's and 0's in Statslab, FYI.
-
The box scores issue is most likely tied to the number of days in the report... prob needs to be 15 or 16. The development problem is interesting to say the least.
-
17 days to be exact.
I found the issue with some of the ST box scores not showing. I had a setting off in the game itself. I have reuploaded HTML reports so the box scores should be displaying correctly now!
The development ratings in Statslab will hopefully resolve itself after the next sim. I'm still looking into it currently. Thanks for your patience guys!
Version 14.3 Build 12 here too.
This is exactly what I did:
- Reloaded the pre Sprin Training league file BEFORE ST
- Exported team fine for ST
- Updated league file in-game for the midway point of ST
- Exported team ingame
- After 2nd half of ST I clicked "Check for Updated League files" in game, it went through a downloading mode, and said "league successfully updated" however game date still shows as March 15th
-
1st regular season sim has been ran from April 1st through 10th. HTML reports and Statslab updated! Update your league file from within the game. I have an updated Images Pack uploaded to the website (link at top right of the forum) so you can download and extract into your 'saved_games\AFBL.lg' folder (this is the 'news' folder part of the AFBL.lg file). Thanks!
-
Fingers crossed the update works for me in game - will report back in a few minutes.
-
Well it's doing a download... but it didn't work for me... it loads files and then says "game date has been updated to 04/01/2013" and the game sits at April 1st.
Really appreciate advice on what might be causing this.
Hmm I think we should try closing the game and deleting the AFBL.lg folder from your saved_games folder. Then download the League File from the forum at the top right of the page then extract into saved_games and try to update from within the game. I think we might be fighting an old version that is cached or something?
-
It does sound like a caching issue, but I'm not really sure where/how things would be getting cached.
If deleting the file doesn't work, I'd post on the OOTP forums for tech support. Personally, I have no idea what might be going on.
-
Still no joy... matt, I've sent you some screenshots so you can see the strange thigns going on - ie it all appears normal and then after a "successful" update I'm stuck on the same date
-
I think I found the problem. Can you try 'check for updated file' in the game again for me? There was an old AFBLfile.tar.gz sitting in the root of the afbl folder on the server dated 5/31 which would probably be the 4-1-2013 file.
-
I think it's time to head to the OOTP forums for me and see what they recommend over there
-
Are there other owners that are having this issue as well?
Stupid alarm clock haha...
Colorado Bears (http://www.afblbaseball.com/afbl/reports/news/html/teams/team_2.html): C Steve Haworth (http://www.afblbaseball.com/afbl/reports/news/html/players/player_2845.html) was injured while throwing his alarm clock across the room. The Diagnosis: oblique strain. He's expected to miss about 2 weeks.
I have finally figured out how to get the Export Tracker in Statslab to work. This should go when your latest export was submitted or if your export is out of date. Thanks!
http://www.afblbaseball.com/afbl/statslab/StatsLab/exports.php (http://www.afblbaseball.com/afbl/statslab/StatsLab/exports.php)
It'll show that you are up-to-date if you send me instructions on the forum after I input the instructions then export your team via ftp. The teams I have manually exported are: Colorado (myself), North Carolina (Chappy), West Virginia (claphamsa). Let me know via the Sim Instruction thread if you need me to manually perform any roster moves. Thanks!
No - just at home at the moment, laptop connected wirelessly to my ADSL router.
Thanks, that worked fine. One day I'll get around to deleting all of the GM files and stuff, but it could also be an ftp issue as every so often I have issues ftping to my own site (directory listing problems - but only when I'm at home), who is hosting the AFBL site?
texas is back on track again! 8-1 in this sim and a 13-6 in the whole season
against oregon we won 3 matches with a important disadvantage in the scoreboard (one 3-0 and two 4-0s). my players are crushing the ball and we have now 33 home runs
in the dark side of the team are the weak starting rotation and that we are doing a lot of errors (4 in a game for example ... omg!)
it must be said that i have played 14 games at home and only 5 in the road
-
Out of curiosity- I'm seeing that I have a player development budget of $0, with the league average being $6m- is this a problem?
No but good question. You might see little things like that related to financials but no need to worry about it since we have financials turned off.
Wow it's gone quiet on the forums since the league started.
-
The best pitcher on my team is a 39 year old who is 0-3 but has a 2.45 era only cause he was tossed in a 0-1 lost to the best team in the league. holding our own at 6-12 but now that I see the factors im playing against line up changes :)
I find the following statistics sad but amusing...
By Position (regular season games only)
Split G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS
LF 18 65 7 18 5 0 4 10 7 21 0 0 .277 .356 .538 .895
CF 18 67 9 18 4 2 1 6 11 9 2 3 .269 .380 .433 .813
RF 18 67 10 15 2 0 4 9 6 15 1 0 .224 .321 .433 .753
P 18 41 4 9 1 0 0 5 1 10 0 0 .220 .238 .244 .482
3B 18 61 5 12 4 0 1 3 7 13 1 1 .197 .279 .311 .591
SS 18 65 5 12 2 0 0 7 5 16 10 2 .185 .236 .215 .451
C 18 71 3 12 3 0 1 2 4 23 0 0 .169 .213 .254 .467
2B 18 61 4 10 1 0 1 3 6 13 0 0 .164 .239 .230 .468
1B 18 65 9 7 0 0 4 9 6 26 0 0 .108 .194 .292 .487
So, basically, my pitchers are hitting better than all of my infielders including my catchers.
So, basically, my pitchers are hitting better than all of my infielders including my catchers.
I have 2 good ones look to trade ;) and you have a pitchers park I think the first No-hitter will be there
We have finished April! In-game file and HTML reports are updated! Statslab will be up in the next 15 minutes!
-
My CF, Luis Bravo, was suspended for a month because he was allegedly involved in a ponzi scheme. Even worse, could go to prison. What...the...hell.
Well, that's an ootp first for me.
-
in my team, at least 5 injuries and we only have played a month ... one of them is my best batter so it cant be worst, or yes? ???
this sim hasnt be too good for my team. the baters didnt work, the starting rotation has been disapointing and we lost 5 in the first 6. we won the last 4 games in a row and because of that we lead the division again but colorado seems our shadow
-
In-game file and HTML reports are updated/uploaded. Statslab will be updated in the next 5-10 minutes.
-
WOW - what a game to kick off the month of May
20 innings marathon between MAS and NJ (http://www.afblbaseball.com/afbl/reports/news/html/box_scores/game_box_4700.html).
Take a look at the box score, it says it all really, what a 20th inning!! The guy who hit the winning HR, it has been his only hit all season.
-
I keep checking the NJ scores.... wonder how long this will take to adjust :)
-
I'm going to reupload the game update, reports, and Statslab to include the readjustments to Ohio and Ontario's roster. Sorry guys!
-
the injuries are killing me ... i already had my two best batters in the disabled list but now, my only garantees pitcher too
i dont like at all that my team had not rested more than a day in all the season. 38 games already!!!
-
I have reuploaded the game file, reports, and Statslab (will be done in 5-10 minutes). Redownload within the game again if you have done that already! Sorry and thanks guys!
-
In-game file, reports, and Statslab are all updated through game date 5-20-13!
-
what a crazy game the 10-13 agains california
mendoza is back!!!
-
Big 4 game sweep of Kentucky to get NC over .500...
-
My stud pitcher continues to light up the league 8-0 from 10 starts, go get em Jorge!!
-
I like how Boyer pitched a 2 hitter in his 2nd game starting :( and I hope i can take down Kentucky again need to get a good sim going
-
I like how Boyer pitched a 2 hitter in his 2nd game starting :( and I hope i can take down Kentucky again need to get a good sim going
Yeah well done Boyer, then he lost his next 2... lol I still stand by my decision to start him though, 2 hitter in your first ML start is a sign of great things to come I hope.
It looks like we're only above .500 thanks to the games versus our neighbours in NY (5-1 on the year so far), against all other teams we're either +1 or -1 from .500 - very tight league so far.
-
I like how Boyer pitched a 2 hitter in his 2nd game starting :( and I hope i can take down Kentucky again need to get a good sim going
What about the 3 RBI home run Boyer hit off Buchanan when we played Kentucky (we lost though) - I have found my pitchers doing really well at the plate, has anyone else seen this with their hurlers?
For example Sepulveda has 5 RBIs, 9 hits and 11 total bases and a .375 average while also pitching 8-0 with a 1.94 era.
-
my pitchers are poison at the plate
-
We have reached June! In-game file and reports are uploaded/updated. Running Statslab now!
-
Also, a reminder that any FA signings should be made here in the forum in the 'Free Agent Claims' thread and only 1 signing per 24-hour time period.
Looking into how to adjust this!
-
Wow. Luis Bravo, one of...if not my biggest...star player has been convicted of defrauding investors and sentenced to 5 years in the slammer. His career is obviously over. Unbelievable.
AFBL had it first triple play turned by North Carolina. http://www.afblbaseball.com/afbl/reports/news/html/leagues/league_100_fielding_report.html (http://www.afblbaseball.com/afbl/reports/news/html/leagues/league_100_fielding_report.html)
AFBL also had its first no-hitter thrown by Arizona Alpine's Jerry Hunt against the Indiana Vipers on May 5th, 2013.
-
That 5-year sentence is crazy.
I think it's cool that stuff like that is in the game, but I hope it is super duper rare.
-
I'll do my best to keep the AFBL History thread updated as we gain league history. I've added a few items that have occurred in the league's first few months! http://www.afblbaseball.com/forum/index.php?topic=3.msg633#msg633 (http://www.afblbaseball.com/forum/index.php?topic=3.msg633#msg633)
I just swept the bes team in my league and my former catcher hit 2 homers and om on a 5 game winning streak plus I'm 5-1 against Massachusetts so it's looking up. And i beat Kentucky again tho only once. I hate to say it but my best hitter is a 40 year old that's playing 3b cause my number one pick is still on DL I wonder if I will get better.
Taking only 1 win from 4 against NY must've been tough for you :) Patriot League looks very tight, 6 teams within 5 games.
Yes it was I needed those wins >:(, cant wait till my team is fully stacked when Patty comes back.
In-game file and reports updated! Statslab will be updated in about 5-10 minutes.
I'll enable All-Star game voting in Statslab so head over there to vote. You'll have 3 sims to get your votes in. Our sim schedule has us lined up to get up to the ASG break after Friday's sim. Thanks!
Yet another tight sim for the patriot league. No team is getting on any decent run.
-
Pleased to see someone has worse hitters than me. We're 5th in average and on-base %, but that is getting worse month on month. Thankfully we have the best rotation in the league 2.76 ERA to get us by but the lack of production is very worrying, especially from guys who should and can do better.
Our crappy hitting continues... need offensive support!!
-
We finally hit well but the pitching goes to pot.
Oh well, still within half a game of the wild card spot.
-
Wow, Kentucky played a lot of innings today!
They had one game go 10, one go 16, and one go 21 innings, and won all three of them!
21 innings, new record I believe... NJ and NY played out a 20 innings game earlier.
wow I love your park NJ and my team ever since I boasted about them had lost more games then won
-
File and reports are up! Statslab will be uploaded in a few minutes.
Be sure to get your votes in for the All-Star Game which will be apart of Monday's sim.
-
Both leagues are starting to take shape. 5 teams in the FL are within 3.5 games of each other for the final wildcard spot and 4 teams in the PL are with 4.5 games of each other for its final wildcard spot.
-
mike, our games are always a home run contest :D
im doing a lot of changes in my starting rotation :o
-
I just noticed that Colorado MR Chad Crockett has 102 K in only 56.2 IP! Nearly 2-1 K-IP ratio, crazy!
-
the all star lineups???
the frontier league will crush the patriot league jejej
-
File and reports are uploaded. Statslab will be updated in the next 5-10 minutes.
The ASG was a good one. Blown save in the 9th then redemption in the 12th!
-
Great sim until I ended it on a 3-game losing streak.
:P
-
Great sim until I ended it on a 3-game losing streak.
:P
Don't worry the rubbish Athletics are available for slaughter in the next sim - you've got our number so far this year and our hitting just gets worse and worse.
.264 in April
.241 in May
.224 in June
Oh well back to the drawing board to get these guys hitting and on base.
-
Colorado and Arizona went to extra innings tied 6-6 after the Colorado tied it in the top of the 9th with 3 runs. The Bears put up a 10 spot on the Alpines in the top of the 11th with homers from Foley and Pham to end up winning 16-6.
crazy!
one question, why didnt start gray as catcher in the all star??
Sorry I goofed by not manually selecting the starters for the actual game. I realized after I uploaded. My apologies! At least the FL won :).
-
dont worry!
again the injuries are punishing me. this time is chad tucker in the all star week ... halpenny broke his elbow or something like that and he will be out for the next 12 months (he is 43 years old already so i think that we will not see him again in this league)
at least wilkerson will return soon ...
-
Great sim until I ended it on a 3-game losing streak.
:P
Your welcome hitting for the Cycle woke up my team and ohio swept me so i helped everyone out
-
And we beat you at home also but another bad sim for me, Oitching sucks this year
-
Sim ran, file and reports are up, Statslab will be updated in the next 5 minutes! Wildcard races are getting very close in both leagues!
-
Yep, nice and tight in both leagues... we're onto the homeward stretch now, looking for some last minute trades to really kick the league into life and see some teams come steaming home to snatch a wild card spot.
-
Finally, we rattle off the kind of sim I've been waiting for. With guys coming off the DL the next couple of sims, it's like trade-deadline upgrades, too.
-
tucker out again ...
-
We lost our starting LF Jesus Felix for a month and a half (.269-15-59 in 88 games) and lost a series with New Jersey 2-1, but given we had 9 tough games I'll take a 5-4 sim.
I've seen a lot of inconsistency out of pretty much all of my players, lol.
-
tucker out again ...
Thank god you took him then insted if me :( :) good player tho hope he comes back soon
-
My team 2-6 and were now shitting in our pants so trades anybody? dont think my plan for playoffs worked
-
tucker out again ...
Thank god you took him then insted if me :( :) good player tho hope he comes back soon
im really happy with him. he can hit, steal, run the bases ... one of the top players in the league. hegot injured just before the all star for just two weeks but seems that his injury is not healing as well as expected and he will be out for a month. what a same!
my starting rotation gets wilkerson back so i hope that this second half of the season we doesnt miss our first spot to reach the playoffs
-
and he is 25 i know i wanted him But my 2b comes back for the first time all season so i cant wait for this sim. Matt are we having the weekend for trade deadline deals?
-
and he is 25 i know i wanted him But my 2b comes back for the first time all season so i cant wait for this sim. Matt are we having the weekend for trade deadline deals?
Yes the trade deadline is 6am CST on Monday before I run the sim that morning. Just need both sides to post here on the forum confirming the deal to get it approved.
-
File and reports are up! Statslab will be uploaded in the next few minutes. Trade deadline is MONDAY at 6am before I run the sim!
-
Eeek... what a terrible sim... 3-6, with the guy I traded away getting an extra inning win on us, another extra inning loss and two run losses.
Our pitching just wasn't up to scratch in this one.
-
wilkerson is backkkkkkkkkkkk!!! 18Ks in 8 innings jeje. 3 hits and 0 BBs in the game
-
hey matt! ray is having a problem with the ftp and he cant export his team since a few days ago at least
-
-
Hey you never added first Cycle :( matt to History of AFBL
I'll add the 1st cycle. Thanks!
-
File and reports updated. Statslab will be up shortly.
-
Eeek... our slump continues (losing record in both June and July)... a 4-6 sim is not what we needed. While we're keeping the games tight (6 of our last 12 lost by 1 or 2 runs only).
-
At least we got our hitting together this sim, .292 average - but our pitchers got shelled.
Inconsistency is not helping, come on guys, 2 big months to push for the playoffs!!
-
OMG while NJ slids I have has 13-6 the last 2 sims and im back in the race wooo just 2 gb of them along with KY and MASS
-
Ugh, lost my ace...fortunately only for 2 weeks.
-
we are happy with our new players, the have played well this sim. texas first in the frontier league with ten games advantage
a few questions: the next drafts are not serpentine draft??? how many rounds will be?? something special that we need to know??
thanks!
Ammy drafts will be serpentine based on the previous season's record going 7 rounds with 10 rounds generated. The ammy draft is held after the season on November 15th in the game. Draft pool released 75 days prior (right at the end of the season).
-
Thanks for posting that Mike. I love all the details in Statslab with all the stats you can check out!
-
Yes sorry guys I gave him a 25 yo Kuckle baller with 8 controal :/ so texas is now a better team and i have 2 first round and 2 2nd round picks so i cant wait for draft night. My team is good with OF switching back and forth from minors to majors and my starters dont walk any body and my bullpen is the best in the majors i think. if my hitting comes around with pat and cole and my SS comes of the DL we could make the playoffs and be a force this year.
-
my bullpen is the best in the majors i think
how can we compare the bullpens???
my bullpen is the best in the majors i think
how can we compare the bullpens???
I would check the bullpen's opponent batting average and runs allowed to stack up a team's bullpen.
-
I wouldalso say walks to ks ;) but because i know mine is a 5.25 :))
-
File and reports are up. Statslab will be updated within the next 5-10 minutes! We will finish August after Friday's sim!
-
4-5 in the last sim.... if we keep this up the playoffs will be slipping away very soon.
It's official though - Dax Taylor is the most overated player in the league, he hit .100 last sim and is hitting .216 for the year
-
Ammy drafts will be serpentine based on the previous season's record going 7 rounds with 10 rounds generated.
Serpentine? That surprises me.
-
Had to share this...
37y/o LeBlanc (http://www.afblbaseball.com/afbl/statslab/StatsLab/development.php?player_id=1886)
So he's had a crappy season, hardly played, hitting poorly when he does, and in the last sim he just jumped from a 2star player to a 4star player. Improvements in potential and actual rating for 3 batting stats contact, power and gap - WOW.
He might just get a start next sim to see if he's really any good or it's just an anomaly.
-
(Curds did indeed clear the fence today)
2nd sim in a row where I lost a starting pitcher. But unlike last sim, where it was just for 2 weeks, today we lost an SP for 13 months. Ick.
-
(Curds did indeed clear the fence today)
And passes the baton to Walt Hart... no pressure on the Colorado star
-
Just kidding. I'm not sure what I was thinking when I typed that (probably the initial draft). Ammy draft will be a standard draft based on last season's standing. Sorry about the confusion.
-
(Curds did indeed clear the fence today)
And passes the baton to Walt Hart... no pressure on the Colorado star
;D Hart did have his 26 game hit streak snapped this sim as well. He is currently at 494 ABs without a HR!
-
and you guys play in the HR friendly league wow
-
4-5 sim keeps me just 2 gb of WC 17-11 last 3 sims
-
File and reports are updated. Statslab will be done in 5-10 minutes. We are at September 1st so the Active Roster expands to 40 and the Amateur Draft pool has been released.
-
Ouch, poor sim AND a season ending injury to a key SP. BUt the funniest was another SP going down for 5 days with a torn fingernail... what a girl!!
-
Wildcard races in both leagues are tight and should go down to the final sim!
-
Wildcard races in both leagues are tight and should go down to the final sim!
Definitely, Patriot League has 4 teams fighting for one spot... we've also only got 3 teams above .500, and really it's only two teams.
-
Great sim for NC... went 8-2 and had a shot to win each of the losses.
Still moaning over the loss of Walsh for 13 months, but at least the team is still playing well.
-
i dont know why i have a closer in the team ... when he should play, he is in the bench and when the closer is not needed, the manager goes with him. wtf!!!
texas is going bad to worst lately. the players who have been injuried are not playing well and with almost all the starting lineup in this situation, the bad results are coming. september will be longer than i expected
the amateur draft pool has been released. any thoughts???
-
My thought is that it is the weakest pool I've ever seen.
-
My thought is that it is the weakest pool I've ever seen.
there is no player for me ... the 3-4 first are not bad, but ...
-
My thought is that it is the weakest pool I've ever seen.
Yeah this draft pool isn't great. Only 10 players who have more than a 2 star potential rating. Hopefully this changes as we get closer to draft day (Nov 15th in the game).
-
Dont count me out yet and isnt there 2 WC places per league?, and what are your evauation factors on Matt overall players or by postions. I think the stars dont give great readings i like 20/80 vaules better but thats me . Its a ok pool for first draft
-
So its a 4 team race for your WC spot because NC looks like they are ok to make the playoffs and i have a 9.8 chance of making it while Kentucky on has a 3.5 chance :$ and we have the same rec, is that because my PRec is 70-66
-
We will likely see a pitching triple crown in the Patriot League as we have one month to go in the first season of the AFBL. Jorge Sepulveda leads the PL in ERA, Wins, and Strikeouts.
(http://www.afblbaseball.com/afbl/images/PLPitchingTripleCrown.PNG)
There is a small chance of a batting triple crown in the Frontier League with Fuller (IN), Robertson (CO), Garlez (AZ), and Foley (CO) all with chance to take the lead in all three categories. This is unlikely to happen however with Garlez batting .351 who would have to go on a power tear to catch RBI leader Foley or Robertson/Fuller would need to end the season with multiple hit games for basically the entire month (please do ;D )
I am 3 wins away from 79, the number of wins the preseason predictions had NC winning. ;D
Correct - 4 teams fighting for wildcard.. and only 2 teams above .500 (well three but you get my point) ;)
File and reports are getting uploaded now. I won't spoil anything but the Frontier League WC race has become a 3-team race with 1.5 games separating them. It will be a fight through the final week of the season.
I'll post again when things are updated!
-
File/reports are up! We have 2 more regular season sims (Wed, Fri)!
-
Perfect timing for that type of sim !!
-
We will probably need 2 new owners after the playoffs due to inactivity/no response to emails (Massachusetts and California) so if you have anyone in mind who would be a good fit have them check out our site and contact me. I have auto'd the entire organization and placed any injured players on the DL for both of these franchises.
I hope to eventually expand from 16 teams after we have completed a few seasons and have a solid ownership group which we do minus a few teams.
Thanks guys!
-
What happened to California? Thought you already had a replacement there?
I thought so too but haven't seen them check in, export, or reply to a recent email so I'm going to assume we have a vacancy unfortunately.
the Frontier League WC race has become a 3-team race with 1.5 games separating them. It will be a fight through the final week of the season.
* Oregon and Colorado are done playing for the year. Oregon won the season series 14-10.
* Oregon and Indiana play 6 more times in September, 3 in each park. Indiana leads the season series, 9-8.
* Colorado and Indiana play 2 more games, in Indiana. Colorado leads the season series, 14-7.
This race will be a nail-biter... I hope the Bears pitching doesn't waste the league leading offense! ;D
-
After leading the league in AB without a HR for much of the season, Curds Campos crushed 3 today including a 10th inning game winning walk-off shot. Now up to 4 HR on the year.
Colorado IF Walt Hart is still without a homer in 570 ABs.
The Bears have 5 80+ rbi guys and could get a 150, 120, two 95, and a 85 guy at the end of the year if my offense stays red hot! Hopefully our pitching can pull it together over the final 20 or so games...
-
wilkerson again out, 4 months this time ... this is fucking ridiculous!!!
-
So i swept Mass and i needed to but i dont win a single game against NJ and get swept my self which puts me 6 back and hard pressed to get WC but i have a 1.1 chance because my rec should be 75-70 my team is good
-
My pitcher just went D. Bebbington P 3 2 3 2 0 0 0 in his last game ave .348 i like this guy
-
OMG wow i didnt have the game at work so i am Just seeing now that Chirs Fox is out for 7 months so season over love this game my team should have played better we suck at home not my pitchers fault
I will ask my Dad he is a respected member of the OOTP boards and a good gm hasnt played online in a while.
My apologies for my lack of forum participation. I just moved to Virginia Beach and finally got internet hooked up. I've thankfully been able to keep lineups going and still compete.
Thoughts up to this point:
- The races are extremely tight. I've got no cupcakes down the stretch and if Indiana can put up a winner record in the last 2 sims, I should be in the playoffs.
- The injury bug is plentiful.
- The draft pool is atrocious at best.
Good luck the rest of the way everyone!
No worries about it. You've been exporting but thanks for checking in. I agree with you except for the part about Indiana making the playoffs :)
The draft pool is always going to be poor with so few rounds. But it's important to keep young guys in the organisation as some will explode into significantly better players than what they project to be.
Also we can't have too many draft rounds or the player pool, and therefore overall player quality gets too high and dilutes the quality of the star players currently in the league.
Matt - have you done any test simming to ensure that the number, and quality of retirements each year will reasonably match over time the influx of new guys through the draft? You want to be careful the FA pool doesn't get too big or too small over time due to mass retirements, or very few retirements for a number of years in a row.
File and reports are up! Statslab will be up shortly.
Horrible time for an extending losing streak for one of the FL teams in the wildcard race...
-
Great sim for NJ... a four game sweep of North Carolina has probably come too late to threaten 2nd spot in the league, but should give us confidence if we make the playoffs.
Didn't spot the injury to prospect Juan Martinez - 9-10 months out with Tommy John surgery...ouch! :(
-
:'( 3-6 sim dont make playoffs but my rookie that i called up has 4 hits and a HR in 2 games so im ok for next year lets get going Good luck to NJ im chearring for you this season
-
25 HR in the last sim :o
-
Ugh, worst starting pitching performances ever... I think Haines was the only pitcher I had make it past the 4th inning in the entire sim.
-
Colorado likely played itself out of the playoffs with a 7-game losing streak in the sim. Sigh. :'(
-
Well, maybe NY has a chance of catching WV and staying out of the cellar!
Is there an easy way to see team home/road batting and pitching splits? I know my park plays funny, but a .239 team BA is just atrocious. I was expecting the park to play well for BA but bad for power. My suspicion is that my team is just that bad....
-
My park is the PL all-star team park :)
In statslab... http://www.afblbaseball.com/afbl/statslab/StatsLab/teamStats.php - select your team, then select "Season" and hit go. We're .248 at hoem at .256 away, not much of a difference.
You are .250 home and .227 away - yes it appears your guys are just that bad :D
-
My AAA Raleigh Explorers are knotted up with San Antonio at 2 games a piece in the AAA World Series, or whatever it's called.
-
in the AA the new boston bruins wins the World Series and in the AAA, one match left against chappy?s Explorers ...
-
Well then.
I wanted the overall offense in my ballpark to be more or less neutral, with an emphasis on "small ball." It appears that I was successful at building the ballpark I wanted, but unsuccessful at picking a good team.
If anyone wants to send any good pitchers or defensive players my direction, it would be greatly appreciated. Apparently offensive talent doesn't work with my team.
My team doesn't strike out a lot and did give up many walks but we could kinda hit and i was ok but
Record at home 34-47, .420 PCT
Record on the road 38-35, .521 PCT
this is why a team that should have a winnng rec doesnt and when it mattered most we went 7-11 worst month by far but team is kinda young and looking for a chance next year
Technically no but Odds are your not losing 8 in a row while Kentucky and mass win 7 or 8 so your a playoff team
Very true... Sepulveda will pitch twice in the final sim and deliver at least 1 win - fingers crossed on the injury front!
-
right now, avoid the injuries is maybe the most important thing for this last sim
Some questions for the commish...
1. Is the wildcard a 5 or 7 game series? The rules say 7 games, however I believe there was discussion regarding a 5 game series.
2. What is the sim schedule for the playoffs? Do we sim a full round at a time or sim 2 home games, then 3 away then 2 home games, or something different?
-
im interested in that too
Some questions for the commish...
Wildcard round is 5 game series, LCS and FCS rounds are 7 game series
2. What is the sim schedule for the playoffs? Do we sim a full round at a time or sim 2 home games, then 3 away then 2 home games, or something different?
Sim schedule is daily (or whenever all playoff team owners give me the go ahead), sims are ran for each home stand.
Sorry about any confusion. I'm in the process of doing some league tidying up so I'll be sure to check whether everything on the site is saying the same things...
The wildcard round will be a 5 game series with a 2-2-1 format with the higher winning percentage wildcard team will have homefield advantage. The two league champs will have a 1st round bye and have home field advantage against the wildcard round winner. The LCS will be a 7 game series with a 2-3-2 format.
For the playoff sims, we will break after each homestand in the series so for the wildcard round we'll sim games 1 and 2 then regroup and sim games 3 then if necessary 4 then 5 whenever all playoff teams are ready or the next morning.
Playoffs will start on Monday when the AFBL Wildcard Round kicks off games 1 and 2. We will have a sim daily at the minimum (no breaks on Tues or Thurs) or whenever all playoff team owners give me the go ahead to sim or any lineup changes.
Hopefully this makes sense! Spend the word among any OOTP friends so we can fill at least 1 opening. We do have 2 openings but I do have a potential owner lined up. Thanks guys!
League Rules have been updated to properly displayed decided on playoff rules. Let me know if anyone sees anything else that is incorrect.
I have actually simmed our league in a test league through 2020 to find that the draft pools were similar with some nice draft classes and some slim ones like the upcoming ammy draft. I've also noticed that the number of free agents available with the number of retirements has kept a good balance. It doesn't appear that we need to add any modifiers to player progression or number of players generated etc.
I will say that this draft class was one of the top 3 worst from the classes I saw during the long-term sim thru 2020.
Just noticed this...
Kawilarang Injured in Freak Off-Field Accident
Tuesday, September 17th, 2013 Colorado (http://www.afblbaseball.com/afbl/reports/news/html/teams/team_2.html) catcher Langgeng Kawilarang (http://www.afblbaseball.com/afbl/reports/news/html/players/player_1868.html) will be out of the lineup for 3 weeks. He informed the Bears skipper that he hurt himself while playing hide and seek with his son and sustained a sprained ankle.Thus far in 2013 Kawilarang is hitting .113 with 1 home run, 2 RBIs, 6 runs scored and has compiled a .257 OBP.
The stat I like... in the the last 7 games, all in September, New Jersey is 6-1 v North Carolina, 2-1 away and 4-0 at home - now that's playoff form!
-
Just trying to get your players too comfortable... ;D
-
Regular season is finished! The League Wildcard Series games 1 and 2 kick off on Monday morning! File/reports are up, Statslab will be updated soon.
-
Colorado finishes the 2013 campaign with a 9-18 September which knocked them out of a playoff berth... Disappointing finish for the Bears.
You should be sacking some guys for that dismal performance, we went the other way 19-8 in September to make sure of a playoff spot that we had thrown away with losing records in June, July and August.
I have turned on Awards Voting for our season awards in Statslab. Be sure to vote! http://www.afblbaseball.com/afbl/statslab/StatsLab/eos_ballot.php (http://www.afblbaseball.com/afbl/statslab/StatsLab/eos_ballot.php)
-
I'd recommend we not award rookie awards this season (or we see if the game can do it correctly). Statslab is just pulling all players -- if we want to count them all as rookies, fine, but the ROY award seems kind of silly.
Kind of agree, year 1 we either don't have 1 or have a forum vote for guys aged 24 and under on Jan 1st.
The game engine won't deal with it correctly I don't believe.
-
North Carolina is exported and ready to go!
-
Oregon won't be ready to go until this evening at the earliest. At a conference all day.
I'll let you know when I'm in.
-
North Carolina is exported and ready to go!
Bags packed and lineups exported ready for the trip to North Carolina.
Our boys enjoy the trips away having a 44-37 record on our travels. We're bringing some strong pitchers, and some hitters that have hit some form - finally.
Good call about the Rookie of the Year vote. Is there a way to specify in Statslab to only qualify players under 26 or whatever?
-
Good luck Oregon. Indiana is exported and ready to go for the wild card round.
-
I can run LWS games 1 and 2 once Oregon is ready and I'm back at my work desk :-)
No, you can only adjust it by service days, which I guess everyone in the league started with 0.
im waiting for the winner of the wild card round ;D
in this season:
Texas Isotopes vs Indiana Vipers 13-10
Texas Isotopes vs Oregon Explorers 13-10
If you haven't already, go ahead and vote using the Statslab utility for our end of season awards. You can vote for Rookie of the Year but it will be thrown out since everyone is technically a rookie this season.
For David and Steve, your default password for Statslab is 'baseball' (no quotes). This is where we'll conduct our voting, drafting, plus is where you'll find statistics for the league without opening up your game.
We will conduct a Playoff MVP vote here on the forums so we have a record of our most valuable players in the AFBL playoffs. I'll set that up during the AFBL Federation Cup Series.
Thanks guys!
