Hello everyone!
Winter is almost over and we are getting close to Spring to begin the 2018 season. Will the Colorado Bears be able to continue the streak and go for their 3rd consecutive FCS Cup title? Will the West Virginia Hollers get their revenge can bring the FCS Cup back to the Patriot League with the Frontier League claiming 4 of the first 5 titles? Or will some of the league's up and coming teams decide that it is their turn in the playoffs?
The majority of teams voted in the 2017 Winter Meetings to keep Interleague Play after its single season implementation with a ton of success.
AFBL welcomes 2 new GMs to the league with Mike Jewell in Illinois and Mike Wilkinson in Oregon. Welcome guys!
I'm working on getting the new file as we speak. The year rollover takes some time so stay tuned. We will get back to our normal sim schedule which is a sim of 10-game days on Mon-Wed-Fri at 6am CT for our new GMS.
Wednesday (3/26) will be the 1st half of Spring Training 2018 which is 12 games and then Friday (3/28) will be the 2nd half of Spring Training (final 12 games). Monday (3/31) will be Opening Day 2018!
-
New file has finally finished and is uploaded. Reports are extracting and Statslab coming up! 1st half of ST on Wednesday!
-
lets go texas!!!
-
some messages without text Matt!!

Hmm I'll upload the messages in a separate zip if anyone wants them. Sorry about that!

Always want those.. league news is very important.
-
Yeah I always forget about these. I'll upload in the morning!
Also, I forgot to unretire Ron Pratt. He'll be placed back on New Jersey's roster for the start of Spring Training. Sorry about that Mike!
-
For those that want the messages that are missing in your game... download this (http://afblbaseball.com/afbl/leaguefile/messages.zip) then extract the 'messages' folder over the current 'messages' folder that you have in your AFBL.lg folder.
-
1st half of Spring Training is completed. I forgot to do FA signings until after the ST games so my apologies. New file is up, reports are extracting, and Statslab will be updated soon.
UPDATE: Reports and Statslab are up to date!
-
Idaho is reporting some minor league players directing to wrong players. Let me know if others are seeing the same. Not sure what's going on. My guess it has to do with unretiring Ron Pratt.
-
Now VA and NJ reporting the same. I think it'll be the same fix as we dealt with last season. I believe it was the unretiring of Pratt and dealing with the database cleanup. You might just need to download the League File link at the top of the page and extract over your contents. Stay tuned.
-
Stand pat for now. I'm seeing if there is an easier fix than downloading the League File then extracting over. Sorry guys!
-
Okay thanks to Mike and Chappy to help test on their end. We have a fix if your game has players being linked to incorrect players...
-Close your OOTP14 game
-Download this file: afblbaseball.com/afbl/leaguefile/PlayersRetiredDat.zip (http://afblbaseball.com/afbl/leaguefile/PlayersRetiredDat.zip)
-Take the contents (players.dat and retired.dat) and replace the same named files in your AFBL.lg folder
-Open up your game and test
Sorry about this guys!
-
Montoya injuried for the next 3 months ...
-
StatsLab is screwy, too. I have players listed as playing up to 3 games on the same date and playing in over 20 games this past sim.

I reran Statslab. Do things look better for you?
I'm still not able to get the correct box scores to display besides the last game of the sim at least for me. Any thoughts Frank?
-
NC is tearing it up this spring. Hopefully it carries over to the regular season.

StatsLab itself looks ok to me now. I don't see the issue with players having played games they didn't actually play. The links to the HTML reports are still a bit screwy, but that may fix itself with the next HTML update.
-
We have finished Spring Training! New file is up, reports are extracting, and Statslab is coming soon. Opening Day is Monday! Don't forget that the minor league maximum roster size rule goes into effect on Opening Day (AAA-30, AA-30, A-35, RL-35) so please be sure to make any necessary adjustments!
-
Hold that thought. Need to reupload file didn't see the error. Stay tuned.

Bugger, saw this after I started downloading...
-
Yeah think my wireless in my laptop is going wonky and/or our host needs to move us to a new server.
File is actually up now!
-
Pulling it down now... the previous file had some box scores missing, did you get the number right for this sim?
-
Yeah they're still missing, 15th, 16th and 17th.. but what do Ic are.. Sepulveda came back from long term injury and pitched 4 near perfect innings (gave up just 1 hit and no walks).
-

Crap I probably miscounted the number of days to include. Should I upload a new file?
-
You only need to zip up the box scores and game logs and post them here for anyone who wants to extra them into their game.
-
Go into AFBL.lg\news\html\box_scores and AFBL.lg\news\html\game_logs and zip up all the files that have a modified date of today, then post them here.
Or people can see these games in the online reports if needed.

Good plan. I'll get that together here shortly. Sorry about that guys!

Okay if you want the missing box scores and game logs, here you go...
Download the zip files then take the contents and place into their respective folders.

I'm doing some HTML Reports cleanup starting now so just a heads up if you see any logos missing, etc. Things should be back to normal in the next hour or so.
-
Texas only predicted to have 82 wins? Tommy Carr projected to hit a paltry .335? Ron Martin to have 378 strikeouts?
Good luck to everyone in season 6. I'm moving to Minnesota over the weekend and will have internet access by Monday so I won't miss any action.

Haha yeah some of the predictions seem alittle crazy although I won't mind the Martin 378 (heh) strikeouts.
Good luck with the move!
-
wow - projecting an almost 20 game fall off. I hope not :)
-
Texas only predicted to have 82 wins?
we are the underdog
-
Predicting a sub-.500 record for NC... probably because I had a single-A pitcher as my staff ace last sim.

Just keeping everyone off guard and playing the underdog role :)

the fairy of the injuries will visit you this year ;)

I like the OOTP predictions. I want to be .500 so bad. I didn't know what I was doing with the initial draft and sometime there after. Now I pay for it.

It's been there for awhile, just hidden.

Sweet frank.. assume this is a "new addition" to a future build... will be impressive in a finances league for sure!

I like the way you think
-
I love how i have 4 potential key call ups that i should not call up ever lol, and i feel sad for Washington if they do lose 6 more games then last year but 76 wins for be would be lucky
-
We have started the 2018 regular season! New file is up, reports are extracting, and Statslab will be updated soon. We had a near 100% team export this sim (17/20). Great job guys!
-
another slow start of season for texas
-
Still two undefeated teams and two at 7-1.
Crazy start for these four teams.
-

Yeah definitely a crazy first 8 games!
-
Down side is my team still sucks. Up side is my trade for starting pitching is off to a great start. Walt Connor is 1-1 with a 2.77 ERA and Lonnie Simmons is 1-0 with a 1.23 ERA. I knew my team would be bad but its nice validation for that deal, especially since so far Irvin's debut for me came with a 18 ERA.
-
8 games and no hitting for Idaho. The team is hitting .202 thus far. The only good hitting news thus far is we are striking out less than everyone else in the FL...2nd season, gonna be a long one.
-
I'm getting a new Images Pack together with a big logo update that includes NY's rebranding and actual logos for the AFBL COL and HS feeder leagues. Stay tuned!
-
OMG 6-2 start for Ontario and one of my 2014 4th round draft picks that made the team is 2-0 so this is a very good start for Ontario

Updated AFBL Images Pack has been uploaded here (http://afblbaseball.com/afbl/leaguefile/AFBLimages.zip). Use these updated images and overwrite on your computer with the game closed. Thanks guys!

Ben Crossin, who played 157, 154, 154, 160, & 160 games for NY over the last five years, is out for month after 7 games with Maryland. Can't make this stuff up! :)
-
4-4 - should we be happy or angry? Too early to tell on where this team is headed this year.
-
Last year we were 1-7 in the first 8 games. Didn't think we could do worse this year!
I'm pleased with 2B Cy Wilcox's start. The rookie didn't even get called up to Spring Training till the 2nd half of March, but made the team after walking a ton and has a .471 OBP so far on the year for us. The pitching is worse than predictably terrible.

For the record there was no known pre-existing condition at the time of trade :o
-
8-0 ;D

Turrble start for the Aviators.
But given how many of the losses were by 1 run, I'm not worried.

Gotta run out the door to get to work but new file should be up in the next 5 or so minutes. I'll get reports and Statslab updated soon. Thanks guys!
-
Everything should be updated now. Thanks!
-
Texas is in the last spot in the FL East. Something have to change in my team for the next sim but a lot of things arent working right now. Players like Mendoza, Rosado or Correa are with avg close to 0.200 and between them only 4 home runs but 56 strikeouts in only 17 games jajajajaj. That should be a record!!!

I'm considering unchecking the "Enable Storylines" option for the league. This would remove players retiring or walking away from the game randomly from a non-injury. I'm fine with either side of this option though. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

That's more of my opinion. I see why it's an option but for us it adds nothing and could cripple a franchise unfairly.
-
Tim Francis was one of the victims. Remove it ...

How often has that actually happened since the league began? Is it more, less, or on-par with CEIs?
In a no finances league where clubs can tend to remain static for years, I think storylines adds a solid random variable.
-
But I mean players retire. Would it stop normal retirement for age?

Yeah, good point.
-
I can think of 3 so far in our 5+ years. Luis Bravo (convicted and served jail time), Ron Pratt (mormon mission), and Tim Francis (donated kidney to sister).
I'm not sure the number of CEI we've had as a league. I know the recent one was NC's Boots Thompson.
-
I think it makes things interesting.
-
would it mean guys would only retire because of injury since they wouldnt just decide it was time to retire? just wondering. that is a big part of how i'd vote on it.
-
Overall I'm not a fan of storylines, however I do see the point about this being a no finances league so it can spice things up.
I assume this is question for winter meetings though.
-
...I assume this is question for winter meetings though.
Correct we wouldn't put anything in place until after the season if we do decide to turn it off.
-
before make your votes, think what do you feel if for example your best player retires with 20 years because his cat died and he is now depresive ...
-
I like the storylines on, but I wouldn't quit the league if they were turned off. ;)
-
before make your votes, think what do you feel if for example your best player retires with 20 years because his cat died and he is now depresive ...
True - but the chance is the same for every GM, my main gripe is that I tend to see more of the "really bad storyline stuff" happening to better players, which isn't a good thing. How many AA players went on mormon missions or got sent to jail? ;)

This is my main concern too. The few that we've had as a league has had events occur to some of the league's best.
-
I agree. If shity players appear in those storylines, I have no problem and I would say yes ... but that is not happening
-
I agree. If shity players appear in those storylines, I have no problem and I would say yes ... but that is not happening
In fairness the game probably is skewed because its offering headline events and its rare a no name player would make headlines for good or bad reasons. So it stands to reason good or bad, the news will be about significant players. But if turning off storylines will stop retirements because of age, etc, than that causes a bigger issue.

It definitely won't stop guys retiring due to age, just stops the storyline 'retirements' - becoming a golf pro, jail time, kidney donation, mormon missions etc.

Final April sim is done. New file is up, reports are extracting, and Statslab coming up!
-
A very nice sim (5-3) except the 2 losses to WV.
-
Everything is updated!
-
Much stronger sim, first decent one for New York. Winning 8 of the last 10 is a nice run. Hopefully it can be built on.
-
9-15 last April, 9-16 this April!
Blooding a lot of young guys this year. We'll be in a good shape soon (cough, cough).
-
A very nice sim (5-3) except the 2 losses to WV.
loosing to WV has to be expected.

MOAR BANJOZ!
-
Good thing I had two off days because half our games went into extra innings (total of 14 extra innings played).
-
4-4 this sim could have done better but for some reason my OF keeps coming in to play SS in extra inning games, in his career he has played 28 games started 6 at SS and made 10 errors its really annoying.
Next week will be tough with Colorado coming just for 2 games but all games against pretty good teams
-
Our first May sim is completed. New file is up, reports are extracting, and Statslab will be updated soon.
-
Everything is updated
-
Right back to sub par baseball. Tough run of 4 losses out of the gate in May. Won 4 of the last 6 so turned it back around. I suppose some inconsistency is to be expected right now. Irvin and Connor pitching unevenly right now, Simmons getting his stride. Seems like real life with Connor a bit off following his no hitter. Might need to find a way to address that and get him back on track. Upside is getting a little more from Graves which would give me 4 solid starting pitchers.
Hitting wise, good production from the trio of Legarth, Knox and Kirby. Good core for the future. Still working on pieces around them.
-
Time for a geography lesson for NC OF Greg Smith.... "I love the city of North Carolina and plan to be here a long time."

-

That is beautiful. Totally realistic.
-
Willie Patton went off this sim, 1.332 OPS with 5 home runs! But, as usual with any good Maryland news, the touch of grey is 6 RBI. :)
-
I was afraid of this sim but went 7-3 to keep up with NJ and stay a head of NC Now all i got to do is at least win one against NJ or 2 and beat the other to teams i face and im thinking of a good season going here.
-
My team is alternating good and bad sims but just 3 games under .500 is giving me hope. Might be time to trade some of the #2 farm system for win now players.
-
I've never had a team consistently have sims 1-2 games over .500, every sim so far has been exactly that. I'm just worried about a real bad sim heading my way but slow and steady wins the race!!!
-
Matt what do you have the setting do you have the minors at, alot of my players are over tired in the minors do i need to sign players i thought we had ghost players
-

Yeah we have ghost players turned on for the minors
-
New file is up, reports are extracting, and Statslab will be updated soon. Final May sim is Friday!
All-Star Game voting has been enabled in Statslab as well. You are able to adjust your ballot if needed leading up to the ASG.
-
Ouch, what a dreadful sim, including getting no-hit by WV and a 2-month injury to my starting 2B.
-
Not a good sim for Idaho. At least the Leafs were eliminated from NHL playoffs last night and I had a little fun in Vegas.
-
Everything should be updated!
-
At least the Leafs were eliminated from NHL playoffs last night and I had a little fun in Vegas.
jajjaja. Lets go bruins!!!!!!!!!!!!
what a year for texas ... its been a joke! Taylor have 3 losses this year and he has a 1.5 ERA ... The other starting pitchers even worst, of course. McBride, Wilkerson and Bryan have 2 wins and 16 losses
-
So my team has been hanging around .500 this year. Starting to grow hope. The best news is I brought former #2 over all pick Ed Wilson up. He got rocked his 1st start but got the win and had a great 2nd start to go 2-0.
Updating my trade block.
-
I would like to congratulate Lesser Virginia for lasting half way through May before being mathematically eliminated. It was a thrilling race this year.
-
Anytime I can get a 5-4 sim I'll take it, even if West Virginia busted us open twice and Virgina shut us out twice.
We actually had a winning month of May last year, maybe it's our good luck month.
On May 17 Liam Meadows hit a top of the 13th inning grand slam to eventually win the game for us at Georgia 13-9. The home run put Meadows into 5th all time on the Maryland career home run leaderboard with 62, surpassing Ian Vaughan who now resides in the Virginia system after being selected in the 2017 Expansion Draft.

Would you be interested in having him back? You could have a home run derby between Meadows and Vaughan.

The ONE thing that doesn't make the Newbold trade a complete and utter bust (although still a major fleecing). He's been the sort of lefty power bat I was hoping so far, and he's still just turning 23. But his durability is fragile (does that change? I swear I thought he was "normal").

Newbold has been an absolute star for me, in fact he's been arguably the best reliever in the league and I've been shocked by his durability as well.
To your question about the 'fragile tag' - I am not sure if this changes or not. I'd hope it does, but in very few cases, as normally if you're injury prone that just doesn't go away.

We have finished May. New file is up, reports are extracting, and Statslab will be updated soon!

Hmm... 5-5 and an injury to Fowler for 5 weeks... have had better sims.

In just pure record, the Patriot League is by far better than the Frontier League. Is there anywhere that shows the interleague record, league vs. league?
-
I would like to congratulate the Blue Pirates and Bears for their sweeps of the Hollers!!!
Well I did it first :P and a 7-3 sim puts me 1 back of NJ for lead, Going to be hard next week got NJ coming in to start my week need a good sim against them and ohio to stay afloat.
And Mike Robert Maillot is the best relief Pitcher in our league at least :P
-
One-third of the way through the schedule and the FL East is completely up for grabs. Even Iowa at 8.0 GB is still hanging in there. Slip ups in a sim can be a major setback for making the playoffs.

It's close between Maillot and Newbold... see attached image... I still stand by Newbold, at least he's been to the playoffs :D
Maillot on the left, Newbold on the right.

No my computer posted when it crashed and i forgot to add what i said, and Maillot had been a Great pitcher for a bad team which makes him better plus WAR of 15 and a whip of 0.78 plus he was out for 12 months to let you catch up and i will (hopefully) destroy you during this mornings sim.
And the rest of our GMs have voted Robert in to 4 ASG in his 4 seasons so I rest my case, and you havent won a title yet :P so playoffs dont matter
-
i will (hopefully) destroy you during this mornings sim.
Placeholder for my response after the sim :)
Edit: Bring out the broom, Ontario is on the floor!!

File should be up in the next few minutes if not already. I'll get reports and Statslab updated once I get to work. Thanks guys!

Everything is updated!

3-1 v FL. 2-4 v PL. Ugh. Probably an issue since I am in PL.

2nd June sim is complete. New file is up, reports will be extracting shortly, and Statslab will be updated in a bit.
-
When does All Star voting begin?
-
7-1 sim including a 2-0 series win over WV. with our only loss being a 2-1 reverse to Kentucky.... we're actually playing some good baseball again.
-
Also, congrats to Ned Hass of Oregon for becoming the first pitcher to 100 wins.
Jorge Sepulveda looked to be the man to do it comfortably, only for injury to ruin his season in 2017. That meant it was a great 3 way battle between Haas, Leon and Sepulveda, with Haas getting there first.
-
WV and Colorado... thanks for that
-

Already started. Voting in Statslab in the All-Star tab.

Weird to think that Oregon, with Haas and Lozano, has the most runs allowed in the AFBL.

BTW Private Messages no longer come to my email and come up wonky for me. SO if you PM me and don't hear back from me within 8 hours I probably didn't get it. Best way to reach me is email anyway troyaof@gmail.com if you can.

Damnit I haven't noticed that until now. WTF. I'm not sure why it wasn't scheduled... Let's still vote for the ASG and I'll see if we can get it setup to have the selected players play in an exhibition or something.
-
This is just crazy!
Colorado RP Rob Kirby is 12-0 in 29 G, 2.14 ERA, 33.2 IP, 3.50 FIP. We are halfway through the season haha. That's a lot of stolen wins from the starters lol.

Sorry about the ASG somehow not getting scheduled at the beginning of the season. I'll close the ASG voting in the next 45 minutes or so (when I get settled at work) and then create a thread here on the forum with the would be selected All-Stars. My apologies!
Thanks!
-
Those pesky Blue Pirates... can you stop with the winning games please.
-
Everything is updated! I'm putting together the All-Star Game selections and will post the results shortly!
-
Wow... Willie Patton actually hit a home run with runners on base this sim!
Mike Brown had a 7 RBI game against Virginia with 2 HR including a grand slam.
Crazy game against Virginia on July 8: Heading into the bottom of the 8th the score was tied 5-5. We scored twice in the bottom of the 8th to make it 7-5, Virginia scores 5 in the top of the 9th to go up 10-7, and with two outs in the bottom of the 9th Bob Roberts gets a pinch hit, walkoff triple with the bases loaded to cap an 11-10 win!

My thoughts on this sim and Rodier missing the all star game would involve lots of swear words.
-
Only 4 from NJ, it's a team effort this year from the Athletics! ;)
-
Those pesky Blue Pirates... can you stop with the winning games please.
Sorry bud i had a 6-1 sim and now i hope for another one just to keep you on your toes
And wow 1B Mitsuzuka Kurota made the team.
-
Very rough injury sim unfortunately so be sure to check your rosters. New file is up, reports are extracting, and Statslab will be updating in a bit.
Trade deadline is before Monday's sim! We'll sim only until July 30th on Friday to allow a few extra days for some deadline trades.
-
Very rough injury sim unfortunately
I'm tentatively loading the file now, with major concerns... injuries were not kind to us around this time last season and lightening does strike twice.
-
Some epic games that sim, 18 innings v WV, followed up by 15 innings against them the next day. Then a 28 run game, we lost, against Colorado.
And yes, an injury,m Geboyan gone for 6 weeks, at least it's not season ending.
-
Look out, Virginia & Ontario... the Aviators are making a run - er, eh, flight! - for you.
-
Gotta feel good about a trade when the players contribute immediately.
WHO'S HOT?
P Don Wilson 6-0, 0.88 Last 7 games
P Daryl Clark 17 SV, 0.40 Last 21 games
1B Dax Rutherford .448, 5 HR Last 8 games
1B Rory White .340, 7 HR Last 29 games
LF Alvin Kane .455, 2 HR Last 6 games
-
Im scared injury's have totaled my 2013 and 2016 seasons so please be ok team and NC who would have thought you would have to say that at the begging of the season
-
Fortunately I've only had one major injury this year (to the guy who was my #3 hitter at the start of the year) but what has hurt me most was the deterioration of my bullpen... most of these guys are not that old, so I don't know why they've forgotten how to pitch well.
-
Lost my Not preforming #1 starter and my LF but i have replacement for him i hope my pitching can stay good for 4 weeks 3-5 sim but i gained a game on NJ woo not to have a good sim next week or my playoffs good be in jeopardy

Well I guess changing the afbl@afblbaseball.com email password will stop PMs from sending you an email alert. Just adjusted that and you probably got bombarded with the last 2 or so weeks worth of PM emails. Sorry guys haha!

7-1! That's the best sim I can ever remember having.
Might have to consider shutting down Shawn Curran and Tim Weaver so they don't throw too many innings at a young age.

Ya and what a bad time i lost 5 and my first 6 games and then once again beat NJ ;) so 3-5 agian but still around.
Lost another SP for season probably so if i cant out hit my way to the playoff might not be this year but its Promise :)

Yeah if we could beat Ontario we might actually run away with the division. It will be tight this year.

Sim getting started now. Battling allergies and had to get things squared away to "work from home" today :).
-
New file is up and reports/Statslab will be updated shortly
-
Rough sim for Colorado. More injuries and a 6-game losing streak.
-
5-5 sim for texas that is not enough at this moment. we lost three matches by 1 run and two more by 2 runs
Taylor is playing amazing, I expect to reach the playoffs to play with a short starting rotation, in that kind of games I would be more competitive because I have 2-3 starters who can compete, but the other 2 are awful and thats why we are not doing a good season so far. two of my starters have a 3-20 record combined XD
-
Reports and Statslab are updated!
-
Ron Taylor has the best avg in my team with .333 xDDDDD
-
So we go 5-1, then lose 4 in a row to end the sim... no injuries at least and we maintain our slim lead over Ontario.
-
Playoff races are really heating up. The final few weeks will be fun to see how they play out.
-
Walt Connor did not appreciate his All Star snub. Last 21 1/3 he has given up only 2 earned runs.
-
Idaho is just playing out the string. It has been an interesting season, some good developments, but mostly suckage. lol
-
0-8 Friday, 9-1 today. ???

First decent sim in a while... but Ontario gains half a game... lol
-
A 6-3 sim. Inching our way to 50 wins :)
-
Everything was going fine til I lost my last 3 games of the sim. :'(
-
4 errors in the same match to lose 2-0 against Indiana with 0 earned runs for my pitchers. that is the perfect explanation for the awful season that Texas is doing
-
Everything is updated!
-
Having a hard time catching Washington for the first pick. My team cannot even lose right LOL

I bring up 44 year old Langgeng Kawilarang (part of the first trade in league history) and he goes 2-3 with a triple im laughing but 7-3 is great gained .5 on NJ and moved in to home field for wc game

Given the team's history thus far, I think that only applies to the GM. ;)

Final August sim has been completed. New file is just beginning to upload and it includes the 2018 Ammy Draft Pool (not great but I promise the drafts will get better as the feeder leagues get through their 1st cycle of players). Reports and Statslab will be updated soon! Don't forget about rosters expanding to 40!
-
Our best sim in such a long time... just 16 runs given up in 11 games led to a 9-2 result. In seven of those wins we gave up just 1 run or less.
But of course we couldn't dodge the injury with Tim Houston getting booted from our lineup for 7 more weeks.
Re the draft pool - Matt don't worry about the quality, OOTP 14 was built this way, guys will develop into quality players, rather than all look studs and then regress.

Except people arent developing. MAtt and I (from NY) took a look at the league and even players done developing are not developing the way our 1st draft guys did. Matt (Commish) confirmed this. We definitely see more 4 star draft regressing to 3 star while the lower stars aren't becoming 4 and 5 in the correct 10% or so.

Texas snapped Colorado's 17 game winning streak on the last day of the sim. That's not very nice! ;D
-
We've taken a 2-game lead on Virginia for the wildcard. However, none of the WC contenders are playing exceptional ball right now. I'm going to go conservative on my call-ups just to make sure we keep the best team we can out there.
Team............................... W-L . PCT . Last10
Ontario Blue Pirates ........76-59 . .563 . 4-6
North Carolina Aviators....75-60 . .556 . 5-5
Virginia Diamond Club......73-62 . .541 . 4-6
-
Hey! We won a ROTM award. Honshorst has been an unusually productive Washington hitter, and he's also been tremendous with the glove at SS. It's nice to see something positive from the team. I'm excited about calling up Ed Moon for September. Also a bit frustrated with Artie Bass's showing in AAA so far.
-

Oh yeah, Ron Taylor is his name!!!! In 6.2 innings, 2hits, 3BB and 10Ks.
8-2 sim for Texas that is looking desperately for wins because the season is close to the end and Kentucky, Indiana and Illinois are not waiting for us... Funny sim with a 12-1 loss against Kentucky and another loss in extrainnings against New York, but the team seems better now.
1 month left and the fight in the FL East is huge with 4 teams really close (77 wins the first, 72 the fourth)
-
2-7 sim, shutout twice, that's more like it. Although we did hit 6 HR in one game in a win against Idaho.
-
lose my power hitter... right after the trade deadline.
-
26-27 in July and August, a decent recovery from the disastrous start. We are getting close to being out of the top 4 draft spots and I am not sure that is a good thing this year...
-
39-year old Greg Shepherd is having a Maryland Comeback Player of the Year type year. He's got 18 home runs (his career high of 19 was in 2013), posting his highest slash lines & OPS of his career. This after spending the better part of the last two years in the minors.
-

This is true. Its no good if guys are raw and don't develop into anything near their max talent. Sure everyone will eventually sort of deal with that but people with stars from then in their minors will dominate the league if the new draft guys dont develop. And beyond that it will be fairly mediocre.

My AAA manager is pretty pissed. They are headed to the playoffs and I promoted the top 13 players from that team :) It's why my AAA always comes up short at the end of the year.
-
Our best sim in such a long time... just 16 runs given up in 11 games led to a 9-2 result.
They will develop.. but GMs also have to give them the best opportunity to develop as well.
-
I guess we'll agree to disagree. We are already seeing a huge lack of development, even among the teams with crap farm systems so there's nothing blocking these guys from developing.

Mike is 100% correct

New file is up, reports are extracting, and Statslab will be updated soon! We have 2 regular season sims left and we have some tight playoff races. Don't forget to vote for the season awards in Statslab!

Except it's not working that way. Blow it off, it'll play itself out in time...
-
Disappointing SIm. Thought this would get us back to .500 but took us backwards.
-
These wildcard races are awesomely poised.
And Matt, do you mind telling the missus what you said before, the 100% part :D
-
the four top teams in the FL East are now in 3 wins difference (81 to 78)
-
Crap, lost Don Wilson, my pitcher who was having the best year, for the season/postseason. That kills our chances of going anywhere even if we make the playoffs, as we still haven't replaced Big Boots Thompson, who was 10-0 last season when he suffered a CEI. 2 years ago we had a stacked rotation for the next decade; now we have two AAA guys in the rotation.
-
sigh.... you know that feeling you get when you go to call up your next-in-line player from AAA to replace your injured star and the replacement player is on the DL for 3 months? Yeah, that's what I have right now. Looks like we'll be going to a 4-man rotation or starting a RP.
-
We've taken a 2-game lead on Virginia for the wildcard. However, none of the WC contenders are playing exceptional ball right now. I'm going to go conservative on my call-ups just to make sure we keep the best team we can out there.
Team............................... W-L . PCT . Last10
Ontario Blue Pirates ........76-59 . .563 . 4-6
North Carolina Aviators....75-60 . .556 . 5-5
Virginia Diamond Club......73-62 . .541 . 4-6
Ya I usually just call up all my defensive replacements to keep my team competitive

Hey have Nate Crane in my Starting Rotation lol but its all about the bullpen 2.76 ERA #2 in the league, which is why NJ is ahead of me

Yeah correct. Voting has just been opened and will run until the end of the FCS Cup Series.
-
Got tied up at work and forgot I didn't extract the SQL reports for Statslab. Everything is now updated!

That's the only reason is it? :D
Don't worry we plan on making the playoffs 6 years in a row, but being the biggest chokers... we'll probably be 6 years straight without even making the championship game, let alone winning a title.
-
I hate tuesdays cause there is no update. :) BTW my AAA Dons with pretty much my entire AA team swept the #1 seed in the playoffs. That was cool.
-
Been a busy several days between work and family... regarding the Amateur Draft Pools and player development... I'm going to hold off on making any changes or adjustments to anything. We hadn't gotten through a full cycle of players in our feeder leagues and the league itself is only 6 seasons old. My stance and decision is to let things play out and we can reassess after a few more seasons.
-
2nd September sim has been completed. New file is up and reports/Statslab will be updated as soon as possible this morning!
Final regular sim is FRIDAY! Vote for Season Awards in Statslab!
We have playoff races that will certainly come down to the final regular season series...
-FL East: Kentucky has a 2 game lead over Texas & Illinois and a 3 game lead over Indiana
-FL Wildcards: Texas and Illinois have the same record and hold the 2 WC spots with Indiana just 1 game back
-PL North: New Jersey has a 5 game lead over Ontario
-PL Wildcards: Ontario has a 3 game lead over North Carolina for the 1st WC, North Carolina has a 3 game lead over Virginia for the final WC spot
How will things play out?
-
Well it could get very interesting, we have a 3 game series at home versus Ontario to end the season and of course injuries have robbed us of C Nielsen (back during the playoffs I hope) and MR Jones (rest of the season).
Good luck to everyone still in with a shot of making it, except Ontario ;)

Must have had a good sim i gained 2 games NJ and If Virgina makes the playoffs 1 year turnaround from expansion and ya you could destroy my playoff hopes like the 1987 tigers did to the Jays, but don't break any-legs please.

Indeed you did, we went 6-4 and lost 2 games to you... I don't mind if you make the playoffs, but in a wildcard spot will be fine :D

Huge 3-game series during the final sim between NC and VA!
NC (48-27 home, 38-40 road) final schedule:
3 games vs Maryland (27-51 road)
3 games vs Virginia (31-44 road)
3 games @ Georgia (29-46 home)
VA (52-26 home, 31-44 road) final schedule:
3 games vs Georgia (35-43 road)
3 games @ North Carolina (48-27 home)
3 games @ New York (26-49 home)
-
So my remaining opponents are winning 38% of their games (accounting for home/road) and Virginia's opponents are winning 48% of their games. That gives us a slight edge, but the 3 head-to-head games will be ever so important.
-
fuck, the 14 innings against Illinois killed all my RPs and I pay it against New Mexico with 2 losses in the last two games of the sim.
Illinois has the easiest final sim so I would say that he will be in the playoffs and Kentucky has 2 wins lead so they will be there too. Indiana and Texas will be fighting for the last spot. This is my prediction

With a 3 game series to play in the final sim too.
-

8-7 for Texas this year ... really tight
-
If statslab is right, in 18 games against Georgia this year, Maryland has hit 25 home runs! Going to have to dig through some box scores wonder if there's a streak in there.
-
Just now getting Statslab updated. Sorry guys! Everything should be up to date now!

Hey this is a new Mexico team to be reckoned with.
-
Hey this is a new Mexico team to be reckoned with.
you are too far this year mate, maybe the next season you could reach the playoffs ;)
hey, I have a question. If I use the 7days lineup, can I see more than 7 days? If not, use that kind of lineups is useless in a league with 10 days/sim or what?
-

They don't have to be playoff bound to be a team to reckon with.
-
Couldn't ask for better scheduling in the FL East Division - 4 teams within 3 games of each other and I've got a 3 game series with each of them to finish out the season. Hopefully can stay strong and get into the playoffs for the first time.

Yeah definitely. It appears that is by design from the schedule template we use for our division favored scheduling. Very cool that the schedule is setup to have a final inter division series to end the regular season.

Oops missed this sorry! That is something that you can set your 7 day lineups and then post on the forum in the Sim Instructions how you want your lineups. Then I can manually adjust as needed.
-
Thanks Matt!
-
Thanks Matt!
Ive been using it and i found you pick 7 days but set your Rotation to Strict Order and clear line ups you get who you want pitching mostly
-
A Unique stat I have the top 3 players in batter war in the PL this year and its all because i moved Kurota to 1B from RF and Chambliss from 1B to RF they both had the same OF range error and Arm so it was a no brainier good to see them bounce back
-
We had a rough sim team wise, but one of our top prospects, SP Artie Bass, had a nice debut. He struck out 11, walked 2, and gave up just 2 hits in a 7 inning no-decision. We lost 5-4 in the 13th.
-
AFBL will have it's first Game 163 in a 1-game playoff to decide a division winner. We can get this done whenever the 2 teams are ready to go!
The final 10 games of the 162 games has been completed and the new file has just started the upload process (should be ready in about 10-15 minutes). I'll get reports and Statslab updated as soon as possible.
Congrats to everyone on a great regular season and good luck to those involved in game 163 then the playoffs!
-
Looking forward to the playoffs for the 6th straight year, maybe we'll get some luck in this one!
Note our export is NOT a playoff ready export.
-
amazing last sim jejeje. If we lost, when will be the first game of the playoffs?
-
and one more thing, after the game I will be able to move my roster right?
-
Yeah this is just an added regular season game so you guys will have a chance to set up your playoff roster.
-
Everything is updated!
We'll sim Game 163 whenever the teams involved are ready. From there we'll allow the 8 playoff teams to get their 1st playoff export in. We'll sim daily Mon-Fri for the playoffs but can start/continue whenever the teams involved are ready. I'm all for some weekend sims haha.
I'll get the Ammy Draft stuff together today as well so we can begin with the 1st Round.
Thanks guys!
-
Colorado sat it's entire starting lineup and rotation the final 4 games. Surprisingly went 0-4 haha. Of course the Bears lost RP Johnny Henry to an injury after I decided to not rest my bullpen.
-
2 games back in the division with both wild cards coming out of the FL East and Indiana still missed the playoffs. Crazy tight finish for sure. Good luck everyone in the playoffs.
-
In triple A the West has DOMINATED the east. The East has only one championship and that was last year. I don't know if the dons were exhausted after their 7 game series but they laid down for the Peaches losing 4 games to 1.
-
North Carolina entered it's 3-game series with a 1-game lead on Virginia and we swept them!
That gave us a 4-game lead with 3 games to go, securing a trip to the playoffs for the fourth time in six seasons.
A few notes about our season:
Crawdad Hicks broke his own team record in batting for a season with a .330 average (old record was .325).
Hicks also posted an OBP of .426, giving him 6-straight seasons with an OBP greater than .400
Hicks also walked 101 times, giving him 6 100+ walk seasons in a row.
Don Wilson's 2.59 ERA was the 3rd lowest in team history, although he will miss the playoffs due to injury.
Daryl Clark set a new team record for Saves with 50.
Joe Haines, at age 41, set the team record for Innings Pitched with 238.
-
Texas is ready! GL Kentucky!
-
Who ever voted for johnny Reeves thank you but can you change that to Robert M please like come on .65 WHIP and he isnt even voted for that sucks and ties NJ this season with a win to go 20-7 in September will have to look at my roster I dont think i will be ready today till 6pm Atlantic time got to meet with my college.
And 23 wins for my pitcher always knew he was good now lets hope Home field advantage pays off for WC Game
-
Well, we had a good final sim to finish above .300. Not exactly world beating, but it makes me a bit happier. Artie Bass had an interesting final start in his debut month. He allowed 2 runs on 1 hit over 7 innings while striking out 12. Both runs came on Bennie Ratzlaff's 42nd home run. That's Bass's first big league win.
Our other top SP prospect, Jermaine Larson went 3-1 in his first 4 major league starts. His WHIP was far worse than Bass's, but his ERA was slightly better. I'm excited about these guys moving forward.
Good luck to all the playoff teams, as well as our game 163 contestants!
-
Got to 70 wins on the last day of the season! First time out of the 60s in wins since the club won 85 in 2013.
+6 wins from 2017.
-
By the way, is there a reason we are doing a tiebreaker game when both teams are already in the post season? I assumed head to head would give KY the division and TX the wild card.
-

It wasn't my choice but the game decided it. I do approve of it since the division didn't have a clear winner based on the record of 162 games.
That tiebreaker I use for the Ammy Draft if necessary.
-
I just noticed Brad Fletcher tied the league REC for most wins in a season
-

Yeah tied Sep?lveda and Reynolds record of 23 wins in a season.
-
surprised that it took this long to happen in the PL

blahhhhhhhhhhhh I guess I got what I deserved for not exporting this week!!!
-
I am open to trading. I would REALLY like to move a catcher or 4 along with a couple back up outfielders. Looking for Prospects and picks primarily. Not asking a ton.

Ahh good to know. I just copied from the Recently Retired Players section in the game.

Surprising how long some of these old dudes hang on in this game

im my solo league i had a #1 pick pitch till 45 with John Smoltz type career

Sweet, Haines is coming back.

Ontario's Jonathan Warren Named Top PL Manager: Ontario manager Jonathan Warren was selected as the 2018 Patriot League Manager of the Year today.
He was somewhat of a dark horse next to some of the more flashy managers up for the award. Warren, who prefers that everyone call him "Cap" or "Skip," tries to shy away from the limelight in a media-driven world.
"It's really unfair to the guys that busted their humps all year long to put all the focus on me now. They showed up early, put in extra time in the cage, worked on their fielding, consulted with our coaching staff and really made 2018 a highlight in my career."
In fairness to this year's Manager of the Year, Warren certainly played an important part in the Blue Pirates success as he guided them to a second place finish in the Patriot League North and a 96-66 record.
I agree with this my team was 22 win better then last year
-
I have no control over the in-game Manager of the Year vote. The game chooses 1 per league. Congrats though ;)
-
I'm testing out a SMF Forum mod that brings a Facebook/GTalk style chat bar to the site at the bottom.
It shows 'Who's Online' on the left end of the bottom bar.
I've been looking for a way to make things easier for GMs to quickly chat with each other while they're both online on the AFBL website.

Oh crap. I have no clue on this. I'll investigate but I'm not sure how to fix.
-
Its not like he would have been on my major league team this year but he was a good defense guy, i think i saw something on the fourm or something about players disappearing in online leagues but hey there's not much you can do just wanted to let you know
-
New file is up to include Ammy Draft picks made since last file and the CO-ID trade.
Reports and Statslab will be updated shortly. I also promise to get the 2018 Postseason MVP poll up today :).
-
matt, put the old messages as readed because I have more messages everyday and I read all of them jaja
-
my file is now wonky after today's sim. Matt - can you give me detailed instructions (dont be worried about being too detailed) about the best way to delete my league folder and reinstall so i have this right? I wanna make sure i'm seeing the right stuff in-game and my exports go through ok because as of right now it doesnt look like it is.
Thanks buddy.
-
Just to give everyone enough of a heads up... I'm going to release a new file tomorrow morning (~8-10am CT) with Ammy Draft results since this morning's file along with getting Lin (Georgia) and Mike (Pennsylvania) created in the game. And the large amount of players trade from ON-VA :).

Email sent but I'll post here as well in case someone else experiences similar trouble. Try downloading this (http://www.afblbaseball.com/afbl/leaguefile/Players&RetiredDatFiles.zip) and replace the contents with the same named files in your AFBL.lg folder.
If not, let me know and we can get you started with a fresh install of our league!
-
New file is up that includes Ammy Draft picks since yesterday's file and the 2 recent trades. This also includes 2 of the new owners for PA and IA (Mike and Dale). Reports and Statslab coming soon!
Also, stay tuned for an updated Images Pack. This includes custom caps and jerseys for every minor league team that didn't have a custom jersey already. Thanks to Mike (NJ) for all his hard work!
-
New file is up. Only changes were adding Lin as the new Georgia GM, process the ON-NJ trade, and NY re-pick at 4-11.
-
Uploading a new file right now to fix some wackiness. I realized I had the 'names.dat' file option not checked to include in the League File. Redownload the new file if you've already downloaded the one from about 90 minutes ago.
