Well that didn't work in game 1 or game 2 ;)

The big guns Okuta and Sepulveda put on a pitching masterclass in game 1 (a crucial match up in my books), with Jorge only giving up 1 hit in 8 innings, in fact only one base runner in 8 innings as NJ claims a vital 2-0 win at home in game 1.

That takes Jorge's record to 4-0 with a 0.77 ERA against WV this season.

Game 2 - 10 runs in the 7th inning after a Talley HR and a Geboyan triple ensures an easy win, despite reliever Benton coming on and giving up 4 in the 9th. Stan Craft with the win, giving up only 1 earned run in 7 innings.

On to WV for games 3 and 4 - Ron Pratt and Dave Boyer (5-0 in 5 starts against WV this year) will be on the mound for NJ.

NJ has exported and s ready to go when everybody else is.

Dave Boyer gets the win in game 4 after WV won a tight one in game 3.

3B Josh Talley star of the series with 3 home runs and 8 ribbies.

Bring on North Carolina!

Currently I'm out and about so wont be able to get anything sorted/exported for the next round until later, at least an hour I'd guess.

Good luck to bith Texas ans Colorado in game 5.

This series will all come down to how well our top pitchers handle themselves - Leon v Sepulveda either head to head or not will be very important in the outcome.

4-3 in the 5th game between colorado and texas

i dont believe that im still in the fight for the title with all my injuries. im doing a lot of changes between the games because i havent enought pitchers for the starting rotation and in the bullpen the same. we are playing with a different closer every game and the same with the starters ...

lets go texas!

Agreed the TX-CO series was a strange one. The Texas bats got to Hunt and Bender in G1 and G2 then in G5 against Givens even with Colorado getting the tying run to the plate. Congrats again on advancing even with all the injuries.

We'll continue when Texas and Oregon are ready to go!

Getting close to the League Championship Series sim. Our boys traveled South to North Carolina a few days ago to aclimatise to the Southern air.

Most of our time has been spent doing things together, away from baseball, although rookie catcher Jeff Neilsen has been spending a heap of time in the pitcher's quarters. I'm not sure if he's discussing baseball or if they've got him in there for other weird rookie ritual stuff.

Anyway, our boys are as prepared as they will ever be. There is playoff experience in this group having been in this position last year, it should us in good stead.

Fantastic pitching from my two aces...  let's see if we can keep it up, because we don't have to offense to hang with Jersey if we aren't pitching well.

I've got to sub a player in for my injured LF and then I'll be ready to go.

It turns out my decision to drop a pitcher from the roster for an extra outfielder will pay off.

Just to expand on the above post, I was not sure whether I should carry 10 or 11 pitchers during the postseason.  I decided that I would go with 10, relegating my 4th and 5th starters to the bullpen and going with a 3 man rotation.  With two guys with starter's endurance in the pen, the 11th arm would be unnecessary.

I replaced the 11th arm with an outfielder, which was very fortunate since I lost my starting LF for 1-2 weeks in game 1.

Well our bats finally came to the party in game 6 as we hit 4 home runs, it still went to extra innings though where Garlez and Cooper both hit home runs in the 11th to give us a 4 run lead in what was yet another really tight game.

Game 7 was back to tight pitching and yet another 1 run game... 2-1 the result....

Congrats to NC and may they go on to win the AFBL Championship

Good series, mike z.  I didn't think I'd win if you forced a game 7, so I am letting out a huge sigh of relief.  I think I am now 2-0 vs NJ in the postseason, which is odd because they own NC during the regular season.

It looks like Hughes is out three more days so go ahead and sim.  I'll need to export prior to game three though.

I'm still far far away from a healthy team. Montoya (SP/RP), Jackson (CL) and Ortiz (RP) are out but at least some players are ready to play again

wilkerson had a bad day in the first game of the series but fujita had a good one in the second so, the series are welcome to texas where the isotopes are 6-0 this postseason  ;D

Yeah it was a good tight series, my mistake was not getting Sepulveda to pitch game 7 when not rested, but we did enough. Your guys just stepped up and stopped our hitters, something you rightly pointed out they don't do during the regular season.

Good luck!

North Carolina is exported and ready to go.

Things look dire for the Aviators, but we've got the PL wins leader on the mound for Game 6 and the PL ERA leader on the mound for game 7 if we can force it.

That said, I fear Texas' offense is just too powerful for us.  They really hit the cover off the ball in games 3 and 5.

Statslab is up to date (11/7/2015)

Here's my gameplan for this offseason...

-continue to vote for 2015 Season Awards and draft for the Ammy Draft (no time limit leading up to the live draft, quicker the better obviously) in Statslab
-vote for 2015 Postseason MVP in the forum (I'll have this up today when I have a chance)
-check through the forum about all the discussions going on (Expansion, Winter Meetings)
-keep all voting open (Season Awards, Postseason MVP, Expansion Year, Winter Meetings) until Monday 11/11/13 at 6am CT
-manually enter Season Awards in the game Monday after the 6am deadline, sim until Ammy Draft day (11/15/15), update File/Reports/Statslab
-hold our live portion of the 2015 Ammy Draft during the week of Nov. 11-14th in the evening likely around 7-8pm CT (let me know when works best in the Draft Discussion thread or email)
-release a new file with draft results and simmed until Spring Training 2016 the morning after the live draft night
-1st half of Spring Training sim the next day or day after that followed by the 2nd half of ST.
-this has us at Opening Day 2016 around November 18-20 range

Please let me know of any questions or comments in this thread or via email. Thanks guys!

Congrats to Texas!

I did not like my chances heading into game 6, but with Haines on the mound I felt pretty good about game 7...  until your batters crushed him.  He was 4-0 in the postseason heading into that game and had led the PL in ERA during the season.

Oh well, I made it farther than I thought I could without my All-Star first baseman.   :'(

3B Cesar Alfaro didn't take the loss very well...  he retired right after the game.

He was hurt during the final month of the season and missed the entire postseason.

He was the only power hitter I had besides Chavez, so it really limited my long balls.

Congrats to Texas, they have the best record for the past 3 years combined so only fair that the old timers won a championship!

Forgot to mention, our boys are now the only team to have made the playoffs all 3 years and to not have won a championship, and we haven't even made it to the final game yet either.

Definitely work to do in 2016.

Maybe Colorado can give you that FCS loss in 2016 ;)?

Well it would be an improvement for my boys - we had the best chance this year, no injuries to hamper us, great pitching and hitting throughout the year, but we got pipped by NC in a great series.

Frank pointed out there is a way to have non-GMs log into Statslab, so we can have our future GMs vote in Statslab. I'll send each of you your default password.

Voting ends for Season Awards (Statslab) and Postseason MVP (Forum) on Monday 11/11 at 6am CT.

I'm going to process the NC-KY trade (and looks like ON-IL trade now too) and then release a new file/reports after that happens.

We're moving along in the Ammy Draft in Statslab. Continue to discuss the expansion process and also vote for Season Awards and Postseason MVP if not already. Thanks!

File/reports have been updated. I processed the 2 trades and simmed 1 day forward which included the OOTP-picked Best Defensive Awards for each league.

Continue to vote for Season Awards and Postseason MVP plus the Amateur Draft!
