Trading Market / Washington Block

I'd like to see if I could move OF Jes?s Rosales.  My OF is crowded, and I need help at 2B or SS.  Prospects or picks would work as well.  DM, GroupMe, or Slack works to contact me (Slack preferred!).

Note that in OOTP16, I've found that almost all undrafted players return to school and do not enter the FA pool.  I know this league is still on OOTP15, but something to consider if (when?) it eventually moves to a newer version.

General Discussion / Re: OOTP 16 on sale on Steam
« on: June 23, 2015, 08:00:48 am »
Oops, sorry for slow response.

I run Steam on Linux and Windows, so it's the same license on both platforms.  Just can only be logged into the steam account on one machine or the other.  OOTP on Linux has only a couple small quirks compared to Windows, I am participating in a number of leagues and never have to use Windows for OOTP to do that.

Yes, I have 14, 15, and 16 on Steam, running both on Windows on one computer and Linux on another.  Using OOTP on Steam works really well for me, at least.

If the past is any indication, OOTP16 should be on sale for 50% off at the MLB all-star break, which is mid-July this year.

This is probably answered elsewhere, but is this league moving to OOTP16 at any point, or waiting for a future version?

Washington votes yes to DH, and no need to wait, implement the rule for 2025.

2024

Team MVP / Batter of the Year: RF Kevin Garrett - .347/.430/.575, 33 HR, 111 RBI, 101 R, 86 BB
Pitcher of the Year: SP Pete Wilson - 20-4, 2.45 ERA, 195.0 IP, 1.04 WHIP, 189 K, 2 CG, 2 SHO

Minor League Hitter of the Year: OF Joe Godfrey (AAA) - .347/.419/.698, 49 HR, 139 RBI, 116 R, 63 BB
Minor League Pitcher of the Year: SP Donnie Skinner (AA) - 17-4, 3.44 ERA, 183.1 IP, 1.21 WHIP, 177 K

Wilson probably would have been the team MVP if not for missing the last month of the season due to an injury.

Trades / Re: Pirates-Washington Trade
« on: May 14, 2015, 10:17:36 pm »
Confirmed.  Giving up a really solid catching prospect, but trying to get a couple key upgrades to make a run at a championship, and hopefully current catcher Gus Chandler is not about to hit a decline.

Matt - Please put Rojas at 3B and Bryant at CF in both R/L depth charts.

vs. RHP, put  Rojas batting #5 and Bryant batting #7
vs. LHP, put Bryant batting #2 and Rojas batting #5

Lots of back-and-forth to get to this one, thanks Jonathon.

Washington is exported and ready to get the first season under new management underway.

And that was more or less a disaster.  Some of the supposed best hitters on the team did absolutely nothing at all, and Washington is off to a 2-7 start.  Ugh.

as long as you set it to clear lineup after use you should be fine, i have used it every year

I never used that so I have to take a look to see how it works  :o

My experience with two-way guys is that you will get maximum starts at pitching and hitting if you set the player position to SP, put the pitcher in the rotation, and also put the player in the daily lineup and set a backup to play every 4 days.  If you set the backup to "If Starter Tired", the backup will play too much.  Using this you can get starts at pitcher and in the field/batting lineup and see how the player progresses.

I've never had a guy make it to the majors this way playing both, they always end up going one direction or the other.  For me, usually if they can pitch well, I end up using them as a pitcher.  And if the league has no DH, that guy can be worth some WAR if he's a good hitter going every 5 days in the rotation.

You could at least try this for a few weeks and see how many games the guy is playing at each position, and how many ABs.

Topics and Ideas Discussion / Re: Ammy Draft Date
« on: April 05, 2015, 06:15:53 pm »
New here, but the idea of drafting while running the rest of the sims doing spring training and the first part of the season works well in other leagues I have been a part of.

The only thing I've noticed is that sometimes a player's ratings will drop from the time the pool is introduced and the draft begins in StatsLab vs. the time when the draft finishes and is input into the game.  Suppose it could work where you get a rating improvement in that time period, too, and it's part of the game either way, just note that the ratings that get loaded into StatsLab at Feb in-game won't necessarily be the same when the player is added to the rosters on June 1st. in-game.

2023

If it's alright, even though I wasn't around until the 2023 season ended, I'll nominate these guys for the MVP spots in the organization:

Batter of the Year: C Gus Chandler - .294/.368/.497, 25 HR, 82 RBI, 96 R, 63 BB, 0 SB
Team MVP/Team Pitcher of the Year: SP Pete Wilson - 16-9, 2.84 ERA, 231.1 IP, 1.19 WHIP, 240 K, 2 CG, 1 SHO

Minor League Hitter of the Year: LF Joe Godfrey (AA) - .331/.429/.585, 31 HR, 112 RBI, 113 R, 84 BB, 0 SB
Minor League Pitcher of the Year: SP Jerry S?nchez (AA) - 18-2, 3.27 ERA, 195.2 IP, 1.20 WHIP, 218 K

*Joe Godfrey probably shouldn't have spent the year in AA, but his numbers are eye-popping, so for this season, he's the MiL hitter of the year.

League Press Releases / Re: New Washington GM
« on: April 01, 2015, 06:59:29 am »
Hi, all.  Dave Krause here, I've been playing OOTP for a while, and especially into online OOTP for a year or so.

Been interested in this league for a while for it's unique (non) financial structure, and it looks like a very active league, too, judging by the fact that I've been on the waiting list for almost a year.

Looking forward to figuring out my team and playing in the AFBL.
