Georgia got a terrific game from first baseman Ben Corsetti. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Maryland, 5-3. Corsetti went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 3 runs. Maryland reliever Austin Garner was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Noah Corbell. Matt French closed the game out for Maryland, earning his 1st save.
César Collazo, who finished 4th in the PL in wins above replacement with 5.2 in 2065, chipped in for Maryland with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI.
"It was a good effort all around," said Collazo.
The defeat makes Georgia 1-1.
