Illinois Grabs 4-2 Road Win
|
Illinois and Washington duked it out and the Warhawks came out victorious.
Illinois rode a decent outing from starter Dennis Ackerstrom to victory over the Washington Resonance. The final score was 4-2. Ackerstrom, the winner, moves to 2-0. He threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 4 walks. Robby Hess locked down his 3rd save.
Illinois used the timely hitting of Carlos Arriaga to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Warhawks ahead, 3-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"This team is capable of getting on a roll," said Illinois skipper Steven Luker.
The defeat makes Washington 2-4.
