Starting pitcher Tony Perez pitched well enough to help the Maryland Bridegrooms beat the Pennsylvania Railroaders, 4-3. The win was credited to Josh Reynolds in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Dave Meyer took the loss. Matt French picked up the save for Maryland, his 2nd of the year.

Maryland needed the clutch hitting of Tim Thomas to notch the win. The catcher hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Bridegrooms on top, 4-3. For the game, Thomas had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Thomas told the Maryland Bulletin.

The loss drops Pennsylvania to 5-4.
