Explorers Shut Out Steelheads, 4-0
|
Francisco Mederos never let the Steelheads get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Explorers to a win, 4-0. The win brings the Explorers to 11-9, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
Ross Curtis had a big 2-run home run for the Explorers in the bottom of the third inning. With Oregon leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Nick Long and punished it. The result was his 11th home run of the season, which put the Explorers on top, 3-0.
Mederos attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
