Bears Down Outlaws, 4-1
|
Starting pitcher Ben Ghent was a major factor in the 4-1 Colorado Bears triumph over the Texas Outlaws. In 6.1 innings, Ghent surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. Bubba Baker nailed down his 1st save.
The Outlaws had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Bears going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the former first round draft pick Bob Nava came to the plate. Nava hit a 3-run home run on a 2-0 curveball from Texas hurler Riemer van Uffelen. It was Nava's 5th home run of the year.
"We played hard and won," said Ghent. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
The win puts Colorado at 12-9.
