6-0 Win Takes Steelheads to 14-13
|
Chris Biggs, who is tied for 3rd in the FL in wins with 3, never let the Explorers get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his curveball, to pitch the Steelheads to a win, 6-0. The winner was Biggs. He threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Dan Sampson. Carlos Benitez was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
Leonardo Santamaria had a big 2-run double for the Steelheads in the bottom of the third inning. With Idaho leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 2062 Most Valuable Pitcher winner Dan Sampson and swatted a double to left. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Steelheads ahead, 4-0.
"Chris throwing strikes, pounding the zone, that is exactly what you want to see," said Idaho manager Lawrence Tabachnick.
The win gives the Steelheads a record of 14-13.
