Lions Slap 7-4 Loss on Bridegrooms

Brodie Shanahan impressed in the 7-4 Kentucky win over Maryland. Shanahan, who finished 3rd in the PL in batting average with .283 in 2064, hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Joel Augustus, the winner, goes to 3-2. He allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts over 5.2 innings. The defeat makes Maryland 13-15.
Kentucky used the clutch hitting of Mike Swanson to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to give the Lions the lead, 6-3. For the game, Swanson had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"I'm glad we can make our fans happy with a win," Shanahan told the Kentucky Observer.
