Multi-HR Day for Meier as Mallards Overpower Steelheads, 9-6
Minnesota catcher Jay Meier was instrumental in helping the Mallards triumph, 9-6, over the Idaho Steelheads. Meier slugged 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Eric Robert came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 2.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. Nick Vernon earned the save, his 1st, for the Mallards.

Minnesota used a clutch at-bat from Mike Slezak to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Mallards ahead, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Minnesota skipper Jason Dettbarn.

The Steelheads drop to 9-20, as their fitful start to the 2070 campaign continues.
