Maryland got a valiant performance from pitcher Howie Rossi, but it wasn't enough to beat the Colorado Bears. Colorado won the game, 5-2. Rossi threw 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Colorado reliever Jason Stoehr picked up the win to move to 1-1. Austin Garner suffered the loss. Maryland has now lost 5 consecutive games.
Colorado used the clutch hitting of Simon Lang to capture the win. The left fielder drilled a bases-clearing double in the top of the 11th inning to give the Bears the lead, 5-2. For the game, Lang had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.
"Our guys refused to lose," said Lang.
