Knights Rally to Nose Past New Jersey
|
The New Jersey Athletics could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Jelle van Gorp into a win. Instead, the Ohio Knights prevailed, 6-5. van Gorp threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Ohio reliever Tim Allen snagged the win, upping his record to 2-4. Paul Torr shouldered the loss. The setback makes New Jersey 22-25.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Ohio third baseman Bob Lyon, facing Paul Torr, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Knights the 6-5 win.
"The house was rockin'," said Lyon.
