Athletics Come Up Short at Ohio, 2-1
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Ohio Knights and the New Jersey Athletics, 27-year old right-handed pitcher Masahide Hirata proved to be the difference. The Ohio right-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 Knights win. In 6 innings, Hirata surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. The Knights, at 24-24, sit in 4th place in the Patriot League South.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Knights had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when designated hitter Keith Tindall hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Edgardo Paulino and made the score 2-0, Knights. Tindall went 2 for 3 with 2 singles.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Tindall said after the game.
