Outlaws Upend Mallards, 7-2
|
Lee Choate made an impact in the 7-2 Texas win over Minnesota. Choate, who is tied for 8th in the FL in RBI with 29, went 2 for 3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs. Jon Gomez picked up the win with 5.1 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 3-2. Steve Lecain sewed up the save, his 2nd.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Ken Huff? The Texas center fielder had a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Outlaws on top, 3-2. For the game, Huff had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Huff.
Texas, at 22-27, occupies third place in the Frontier League East.
