Maryland turned a good effort from starter Tony Perez into a win over the New York Empire at The Empire. The final score was 3-2. The Bridegrooms saw their win-loss record go to 32-36. At the same time, the Empire fell to 33-35.

Maryland used a clutch hit from César Collazo to get the win. The left fielder drilled a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Bridegrooms ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
