|
New Jersey pitcher Paul Torr did his part in helping his team beat the Ontario Blue Pirates, 5-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Jim Schlenker earned the save, his 17th, for the Athletics. The Athletics improve their record to 31-55 with the win over Ontario.
New Jersey used the bat of William Fynes to get the win. The center fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the third inning to put the Athletics ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"I made some pitches when I had to," said Torr.
