The New York Empire defeated the Alabama Yellowhammers, 9-3. Second Baseman Antonio Rincones deserved a large share of the credit. Rincones went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 2 times for the Empire. Matt Jordan, the winning pitcher, improved to 7-6. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 6 hits and 1 run, while striking out 6 and walking 4. New York currently is in second place in the Patriot League North at 51-36.

In the bottom of the third, former first round draft pick Jorge Reynoso hit a grand slam home run. The 10th home run of the season for the New York first baseman put the Empire on top, 5-1.
