Vipers Nip Resonance, 2-1
|
Arizona got a first-rate effort from pitcher Plácido Dinares, who frustrated Washington hitters en route to a 2-1 Vipers triumph at The Snake Pit. The win elevated the Vipers to 56-45.
Arizona won the game in the bottom of the 11th inning. With no outs and Masanori Hayashi on the mound for Washington, left fielder Paddy Kerkhoven hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Vipers fans to their feet.
During his postgame press conference, Vipers manager Alex Cumana told reporters that he expected a tight game from the get-go. "This had the potential to go down to the wire, and it certainly didn't disappoint," he said, later quipping, "it might've been a little less nerve-racking if I had been watching the game from my couch!"
