Alabama Edges Maryland, 1-0, Hager Ks 11
|
In a low-scoring contest, Alabama pitcher Matt Hager was marvelous in his team's 1-0 win. Lou Harvey earned the save for Alabama, his 2nd of the year. Alabama improves to 55-49 with the win. They lead their division by 3½ games.
Hager made it look easy. He scattered 1 hit over 7 innings, while racking up 11 strikeouts. The right-hander upped his season record to 13-3.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Hager told the Alabama News. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
