Mallards Get Past California, 4-3
California first baseman Jamie Gerdes was sensational. He was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Minnesota beat the Bulldogs, 4-3. The Mallards are now 45-59, while the Bulldogs fall to 52-52.

Minnesota used the timely hitting of Steve McNutt to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Mallards on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"This was a good win," said McNutt.
