Choate Hits 2 home runs in Outlaws Win
|
Led by Lee Choate, the Texas Outlaws defeated the Minnesota Mallards, 3-2. Choate hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Outlaws. Matt Pierce earned the save, his 23rd in 26 tries. Texas raised its record to 59-55 with the win.
Choate had a timely hit for Texas in the top of the ninth. With Minnesota trailing 2-1, he turned a 1-1 fastball into a 2-run home run. It was his 32nd home run of the season, making it 3-2, Texas.
Afterward, Outlaws manager Andrew Cole was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
