Railroaders Edge Yellowhammers, 3-2
|
The Pennsylvania Railroaders topped the Alabama Yellowhammers, 3-2, in Patriot League action at PNC Park. The standout performance belonged to Pennsylvania pitcher and San Francisco, California, native Chris Clark. Clark, the winner, moves to 7-6. He threw 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 4 walks. The 4th-place Railroaders lifted their record to 53-86.
Craig Nix drove in one run for Pennsylvania. The 24-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring catcher's interference off Jeff Price. It was his 38th RBI of the season.
Alabama manager Larry Link said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
