Vipers Win, 7-3
|
The Arizona Vipers picked up a win at Lions Stadium, knocking off the Kentucky Lions, 7-3. Starting pitcher Frank Salerno was a big reason why. In 7 innings, Salerno surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 4. He allowed 1 run. Arizona is 87-55 and Kentucky, with the loss, 85-57.
Austin Wooldridge had a big run-scoring double for the Vipers in the top of the first inning. With Arizona leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Raul Arvelos, who finished 2nd in the PL in ERA with 1.86 in 2064, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 28th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Vipers ahead, 2-0.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Wooldridge.
