Pennsylvania Beats New Jersey, 4-3
|
New Jersey got a terrific game from first baseman Juan Padilla. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Pennsylvania, 4-3. Padilla was 3-4 with 2 home runs and a double. Lysander Kalergi earned his 39th save in 43 chances. Pennsylvania is now 65-78.
Had Luis Martinez not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Martinez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Railroaders.
In postgame comments to the Pennsylvania Chronicle, Martinez said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
